2 College Football Best Bets for Championship Weekend

Where, oh where, did the college football season go? As Mama always says, "Time flies when you're having fun!" Thankfully, we still have championship games for the Conference USA, PAC-12, Big 12, SEC, AAC, Big Ten, and ACC.

Need help betting on these games? You've come to the right place! Get our 2 best bets for Championship Weekend below. Good luck with all of your action on the college gridiron.

Best Bet: Oklahoma State Cowboys +14.5

The Cowboys are extremely lucky to be here in the Big 12 title game. They trailed BYU at home at the half 24-6. They were lucky enough to fight back and take the league with 1 minute remaining before BYU drove down and made a field goal that sent the game to OT.

In the 2nd OT, after Ollie Gordon scored his 5th TD of the game, BYU fumbled and lost the ball and thus the game. Texas had a much less competitive game against Texas Tech in their last game. After leading just 10-7 after the 1st quarter, the Longhorns put up 47 unanswered points.

These 2 did not meet in the regular season but offer an intriguing matchup for the Big 12 title game. Both teams are averaging over 30ppg, but Texas hold a decided advantage on defense where they allow just 17.25ppg compared to the 27.33ppg that Oklahoma St allows.

The gameplan for the Cowboys will be simple; they will look to pound the rock with Ollie Gordon III who is averaging over 130 yards per game on the ground and has found paydirt 21 times. If they can control the time of possession and keep Quinn Ewers and the explosive Texas offense off the field.

We believe the number here is simply too high for the Longhorns to cover. Ollie Gordon III should be able to grind tough yardage out on the ground and keep this one from turning into a shootout.

Key Betting Trends for Big 12 Title Game

  • OKST is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games.
  • OKST is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games when playing as the underdog.
  • Texas is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games played on a Saturday when playing at home.
  • Texas is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games against Oklahoma State.

Best Bet: Alabama Crimson Tide +6

Two programs that know each other extremely well but did not face each other in the regular season, the undefeated Bulldogs had a tough time in their regular season finale over Georgia Tech. Leading 31-13 heading into the 4th, Georgia fans believed they had it wrapped up before a GT field goal and then a Haynes King rushing TD brought things to a 1 score game.

The Bulldogs ultimately were able to run the ball and pick up a couple of 1st downs that sealed the deal. Alabama had an even more spectacular win to get here. They were faced off with rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl and with the lead changing hands multiple times, things came down to the wire when Jalen Milroe connected with Isaiah Bond on a 4th and goal from the 31-yard line.

The CFB Playoff could get interesting here if Bama defeats Georgia. That would leave 2 one loss SEC teams, to fill potentially just 1 spot, pending what happens to Michigan, Washington, and FSU. If these 2 teams faced off earlier this season, we would give the edge strongly to Georgia.

However, now that Milroe has had a full season to get comfortable in the offense, this Bama team is much tougher than the one that lost to Texas earlier this year. This game should be back and forth, much like the Bama/Auburn game but in the end, we believe it will come down to the final possession and in that instance, we want the points.

Key Betting Trends for SEC Championship

  • UGA is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games played on a Saturday when playing on the road.
  • Bama is 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games played on a Saturday when playing at home.
  • Bama is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games
  • Bama is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games when playing as the underdog.
