This is one of the most highly anticipated sporting events of the entire year, if not the most, and we couldn’t be more excited for the sheer number of games going on over the next few days and weeks.

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait until Thursday for the madness to start, as there are two games tonight and two tomorrow. We’re going to focus on the battle for an 11 seed tonight, which is between Texas and NC State.

Texas is a 1.5-point favorite, but as we know, anything can happen at this time of year. With that in mind, let’s get into our top player props from this highly regarded matchup, all of which can be found on Underdog!

Darrion Williams UNDER 19.5 Points, Rebounds & Assists

One big part of playing well in the Tournament is getting hot at the right time. Some teams come out firing in March Madness, which can lead them to go on a winning streak that nobody expected when the Tournament began.

Others limp into this event, which is what Darrion Williams has done lately for NC State. He’s had under 20 PRA in four straight games, including his most recent matchup, which was against Virginia, where he had just 7 points, 3 assists, and 1 rebound.

We can’t be confident in him tonight with this track record in mind, so we’re fading his PRA total until he proves himself in March.

Matas Vokietaitis UNDER 7.5 Rebounds

Williams isn’t the only athlete in this matchup to be struggling lately. Matas Vokietaitis hasn’t been as efficient lately on the glass as he has been all year, having fewer than 8 boards in 6 straight games.

He’s gotten close to hitting this line, having 7 rebounds against Texas A&M and against Arkansas, but 8 has alluded him for one reason or another. Plus, he only had 3 rebounds against NC State earlier this year, so we’re taking under in this matchup as a result.

Ven-Allen Lubin OVER 22.5 Points & Rebounds

NC State doesn’t have 1 leading scorer. In fact, they have 3, as three of their athletes average 13.9 PPG, and Williams is right behind them with 13.8. That indicates that this team is incredibly balanced, which is typically the mark of a Tournament team that could make a deep run.

Ven-Allen Lubin has been the hottest of them lately, having 23+ combined points and rebounds in 4 of his past 5 games. As we mentioned earlier, being hot is a key trait in March, and considering Lubin’s track record recently, there’s no reason to fade him in this matchup.
