Today is a great day if you’re a college basketball fan! March is officially here, and there are fewer than three weeks before the Madness begins. With so few games left in the season, teams are running out of time to establish their positioning, which should make for some exciting games leading up to the Tournament.
One of those games is taking place tonight, as No. 9 Nebraska travels to California to take on UCLA. UCLA might be unranked, but they’re actually favored by 1.5 points. Oddsmakers expect this to be a hard-fought, close battle, so we’re looking forward to watching it all go down.
We’ve put our favorite Underdog player props together from this one, so without further fanfare, let’s get into those top picks!
Tyler Bilodeau UNDER 8.5 Rebounds
This is, by far, our favorite prop of the night. Tyler Bilodeau is UCLA’s top scorer, average-wise, and he’s also their top rebounder on a per-game basis. The problem with his rebounding total is that he averages just 5.8 boards per game, so we were a bit surprised to see how high his total was here.
Maybe we’re missing something, but he’s not only had 9 or fewer rebounds in 8 of his past 10 games, but he’s also gone under this mark in 25 of his past 30 games. History is giving us some big clues here, so we’re confidently taking him under in this spot.
Sam Hoiberg UNDER 5.5 Assists
There’s another player with a negative trend in this matchup, and it’s Nebraska’s guard, Sam Hoiberg. Hoiberg leads the team in assists with 4.5 per game, but similar to Bilodeau for UCLA, his line is just too high here.
He’s had fewer than 6 assists in 8 of his past 10 outings and in 16 of his past 20. Until he starts performing more consistently, we’re going to fade his assist total in every game moving forward.
Berke Buyuktuncel OVER 8.5 Points & Rebounds
Bereke Buyuktuncel might not be a household name for casual NCAAB fans, but he’s a vital part of this Nebraska roster. He gives them solid production in his 24.3 minutes per game, and we think he’s going to be a driving force in helping Nebraska stay in this one.
He’s had 9 or more points and rebounds in seven of his past games, and in 21 of his past 27 appearances. Buyuktuncel is never going to be a 15 PPG guy, but he still makes an impact, so we’re excited to take his over tonight.
