We’ve reached something of a weird time in the sports calendar. There’s no NFL action going on, and MLB is about a month from starting its season. We’re in the thick of the NBA and NHL seasons, as both are now back from the All-Star Break/the Olympics, and there are only a few more weeks until March Madness kicks off.
College basketball seems to be the hottest sport at the moment, so we’re diving into it for tonight’s slate. There are many awesome games taking place this evening, but we’ve focused on the matchup between No. 13 Michigan State and No. 8 Purdue.
Purdue is an 8.5-point favorite in this one, but these Big 10 matchups always seem to come down to the wire, so we’re excited to watch this one unfold. With that in mind, let’s get into our top player props from this game, all of which are found on Underdog!
Oscar Cluff OVER 1.5 Assists
When you think about Purdue and Oscar Cluff, chances are, you’re not thinking about his ability to distribute the basketball. Cluff is the team’s second-leading rebounder, and while he’s not one of their top scorers, he still puts up a respectable 10 points per game.
As you’ve already seen, we’re not interested in rebound or points props, but rather, his assist line. Cluff has been dishing the rock far more lately than he was earlier in the year, and we’re taking full advantage of that.
He’s had 2+ assists in four straight games, including in tough matchups against Nebraska and Michigan. We’re riding with the Cluff train again tonight, hoping he extends this assist trend to five games!
Jordan Scott OVER 9.5 Points
If you look at Jordan Scott’s point total average this year, you might be scratching your head at this line. While Scott is averaging just 7 points per game this year, he’s caught fire for the Spartans lately, scoring 10+ in 6 straight games.
A lot of his production has come from behind the arc, so we can’t expect him to stay hot forever, but at least for tonight, we’re taking Scott to have double digits once again.
Trey Kauffman-Renn OVER 22.5 Points and Rebounds
Speaking of players who are on fire, Trey Kauffman-Renn has been electric for Purdue lately, especially over his past two games. He had 20 points and 6 boards against Indiana, and 27 points and 12 rebounds against Michigan.
This is an important game for both teams, and we’re expecting this to be a back-and-forth battle all night. If that’s the case, Kauffman-Renn will need to be involved early and often, which is why we’re confident in his combined points & rebounds line.
