Happy Wednesday, everyone! We have finally made it to March Madness, and we think we can speak for all sports fans when we say it’s about darn time! This is one of the most highly anticipated sporting events of the entire year, if not the most, and we couldn’t be more excited for the sheer number of games going on over the next few days and weeks.
Thankfully, we don’t have to wait until Thursday for the madness to start, as there were two games last night and two tonight. We’re going to focus on the battle for an 11 seed this evening, which is between Miami OH and SMU.
SMU is a 6.5-point favorite, but considering this game is taking place in Dayton, which is effectively in Miami OH’s backyard, truly anything can happen. With all of that in mind, let’s get into our favorite player props from this highly anticipated game, all of which can be found on Underdog!
Boopie Miller OVER 20.5 Points
We’re rooting for Miami OH to keep this one close, if not win in upset fashion. If they lose, it’ll likely be attributed to the spectacular play of Boopie Miller, who has been excellent for the Mustangs all year.
He’s averaging 19.2 PPG, putting him among the 50 best players in the country in that respect, and he continues to be a big reason why SMU wins games. He’s had 21+ 4 of his past 5 games, and in the one game he had less than that, the Mustangs lost. Look for Miller to get back on track tonight and look to send Miami OH packing.
Jaron Pierre Jr. OVER 3.5 3-Pointers Made
One of the best parts of SMU’s offense this year has been their three-point shooting, and Jaron Pierre Jr. has been a big part of that. We don’t normally take three-point props, but with Pierre being so hot leading up to this point, it’s not worth it to fade him.
He’s had at least 4 in 4 of his past 5 games, and looks to keep that streak going in this must-win game. We’re expecting him and Miller to contribute to most of the scoring in this one, so we’re riding with this three-point prop as a result.
Eian Elmer UNDER 13.5 Points
Miami OH is an incredibly balanced team, having 7 players average more than 10 PPG. Having balance is typically a good thing heading into the Tournament, but it also makes things tricky from a betting perspective.
We can’t be certain that any one of the RedHawks is going to go off for 14+ in this one, and of all the players to fade, we rolled with Eian Elmer. Elmer is hot and cold, as college basketball players tend to be, and with that, we’re expecting Miami OH to keep the balance alive to work in their favor tonight.
That said, we’re taking the under on Elmer’s point total, but we’ll probably take the under on other RedHawks, too.
