Happy Friday, everyone! We have finally made it to the second day of March Madness, and we think that we can speak for all sports fans when saying it’s about darn time! This is one of the most highly anticipated sporting events of the entire year, if not the most, and we couldn’t be more excited for the sheer number of games going on over the next few days and weeks.
If yesterday’s games are any indication, this could be one of the most exciting Tournaments in some time, and we are here for it. With so many games on the slate today, there were countless options for us to choose from when it comes to player props.
After studying the bracket, we went with the No. 8 and No. 9-seeded matchup between Iowa and Clemson. Let’s get into our top picks from this one, all of which can be found on Underdog!
Bennett Stirtz OVER 19.5 Points
Iowa’s offense seems to live and die by Bennett Stirtz, who has consistently been their top point-scorer all season. Stirtz averaged 20 PPG during the regular season, and the next closest person, Tavion Banks, averaged just 10.5 PPG.
There’s a clear separation of scoring talent on this team, and when Stirtz plays well, this team fires on all cylinders. We’re banking on him to have an awesome debut game to keep Iowa in it, which is why we’re taking the over on his point total here.
RJ Godfrey UNDER 12.5 Points
While we’re pretty confident in Stirtz’s point total, we’re the exact opposite of that for RJ Godfrey. Clemson’s strength this season has been to spread the ball around and get multiple people involved, leading to Godfrey, their leading scorer, only having 11.9 PPG.
Clemson’s inconsistency from an individual player perspective has us worried in this one, and as a result, we’re fading his point total. We need to see it to believe it from any of Clemson’s players, and we just can’t trust any of them to deliver a big game, at least to start their Tournament.
Kael Combs UNDER 5.5 Points
The under in this spot is more about our belief in Stirtz than anything else. Because we’re expecting him to carry the bulk of the load for this Iowa offense, we can’t have much trust in the other players on this roster, including Kael Combs.
Combs is averaging just 5.9 PPG on the season, and in a game where everything is on the line, look for Iowa to turn elsewhere.
