Fight fans are fired up for UFC 316, and rightfully so! The card is jam-packed with lots of exciting fights, and our MMA expert is here with his best bets. The action gets underway on Saturday, June 7th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The main event will feature a rematch between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley. The 5’11” O’Malley will have a 4-inch reach advantage over Dvalishvili, but he’s still a sizable underdog. Get our top pick for this fantastic matchup below. Best of luck with all of your bets!
Main Event Play: Merab Dvalishvili by Decision (-165)
We do not see this one going much differently from their original meeting. Merab has proven to be on another level in terms of cardio and pressure.
He handled Umar in a fight that many had him pegged to lose. Now he gets a matchup that favors him even more. It seems O’Malley has made some significant lifestyle changes recently, which should help him in the long run.
However, here, against a bulldog like Merab, we believe he is going to have another hard time dealing with the constant pressure and takedown attempts.
Main Card Top Finish Play: Kevin Holland by SUB (+550)
Holland is matched up against Vicente Luque where he is going to have a decided advantage in terms of reach.
While Luque is a striker by nature, we believe he is going to either be forced to try and bring Holland to the ground or will be put there by one of those long Holland strikes.
At over 5:1, we love the value we are getting here on Holland submitting him.
Top Underdog Play: Kevin Gastelum (+300)
Despite being a big Joe Pyfer fan, we do not love this matchup for him. Gastelum’s last 2 victories came over Daniel Rodriguez and Chris Curtis, who both have similar styles to Pyfer.
If Gastelum is able to weather the early storm from Pyfer and pick his spots, he could sneak out a decision over a frustrated Pyfer here.
Other Leans for All Remaining Fights:
Julianna Pena (+450)
Mario Bautista (+150)
Joshua Van (-650)
Seghei Spivac (-140)
Mark Choinski (+190)
