The UFC heads to Singapore for a featherweight bout that should be highly entertaining between Max Holloway and The Korean Zombie (Chan Sung Jung). Holloway is a fairly large favorite, but it wouldn't be wise to count out Jung.
Because of the time difference, fight fans will get to take in their favorite sport over breakfast, as the Prelims are scheduled to begin at 5 AM Eastern Time on Saturday, August 26. Here are 6 best bets for UFC Fight Night so you can wake up with some winners.
Chidi is on a 2-fight losing streak. Albert Duraev took him to a split decision in his latest loss after he got knocked out by Robocop Gregory Rodrigues. We love playing good fighters that are trying to avoid a 3-fight losing streak.
The decision loss was only his 2nd loss in his 31-fight career that came via decision. He is 14-4 in fights that finish by KO/TKO and is fighting Michal Oleksiejczuk, who is also a striker and is 13-1 in finishes by KO/TKO.
After defeating Sam Alvey and Cody Brundage by KO/TKO in the 1st round prior to his loss to Caio Borralho via submission. Those wins over Alvey and Brundage are not that impressive as neither is the level of striker that Chidi is.
The other major piece here is the 6-inch reach advantage that Chidi will have in this matchup and should serve as a superior advantage. A KO/TKO finish may be work a sprinkle as well but the price is right here on the money line.
Jarno is 2-2-1 over his last 5 fights. His latest one was his UFC debut back in September of last year. He lost via unanimous decision to William Gomis who is now 12-2 in his career.
That was a tough matchup to have as your UFC debut. Put the nerves on top of the tough matchup and it is no shock he took an L. He gets SeungWoo Choi here who is on a 3-fight losing streak.
He has been knocked out twice and submitted twice in his short 16 fight career. Jarno has accumulated 3 KOs and 5 submissions. We believe this line should be flipped but glad to grab the value.
Waldo is a relatively heavy favorite here and coming off his 1st loss in his career to Marcos Rogerio De Lima who is a veteran that has been in 32 fights. He is fighting Lukasz Brzeski here who has struggled in his last couple fights. We like Waldo to bounce back here in this one.
Armfield lost his UFC debut to David Onama, who is now 11-2 in his career. Here, he faces Toshiomi Kazama, who is 3-2 in his last 5 fights and lost his debut in just 33 seconds in February via KO to Rinya Nakamura.
That KO is the kind of knock out that lingers and puts hesitancy into the mind of a fighter. We believe that will play to the advantage of Armfield here and, if he stays off his back, this should be Armfield’s fight to lose.
We obviously know how much Max Holloway loves to stand and throw in his fights. He is fighting one of the toughest guys in the division here in the Korean Zombie.
He has an inordinate ability to take a ton of damage without going down. We believe this one is going to be a slugfest with Holloway using his superior cardio to pick up the win.
The 20.5 minutes is just getting through 1 minute of the last round which takes out the chance of Holloway picking up a late knock out that could cost us.
Rinya is still undefeated and has looked absolutely amazing. He is the heaviest favorite on the card and rightfully so. His addition here is just to lower the juice a bit for our backing of Giga.
He faces Alex Caceres who is not an easy matchup. Alex has won his last 2 fights and 4 of his last 5 fights.
Giga is coming off a loss to Calvin Kattar which snapped a 9-fight winning streak and gave him his 1st loss in the UFC. We believe Giga will bounce back nicely here and force a finish if he gets the opportunity.
Erin gets Taila Santos, whose last fight was a split decision loss to the champ Valentina Shevchenko. That fight was back in June of 2022 while Erin last fought in February.
Erin is on an 8-fight winning streak after picking up here 3rd straight submission victory against Jess Andrade.
We believe Blanchfield is going to make the most of this opportunity which will lead to a title shot if she is able to get the victory. Here BJJ skills are superior to Santos here and we believe she will use that to get the W.
