Prediction Markets Breakdown: McGregor’s Return, Seager’s MVP Odds, and the Reaves Contract Watch

From a five-year UFC comeback to a quietly buried MVP case to a Lakers max deal, here’s what prediction markets are saying this week.

Grab a seat and check the crowd’s money because this week’s biggest sports storylines are getting a reality check from prediction markets. A five-years-in-the-making UFC comeback, a former batting champ’s quiet MVP fade, and an NBA guard’s future are all playing out in real time on the betting boards.

The McGregor Comeback Watch Party Odds

Conor McGregor finally steps back into the octagon on July 11 at UFC 329, a welterweight rematch against Max Holloway at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, right in the middle of International Fight Week. It’s the kind of event that turns living rooms into full watch parties, especially given how long fans have waited. McGregor hasn’t fought since his 2021 trilogy loss to Dustin Poirier, and an 18-month suspension for missed drug tests only ended in March 2026. Markets currently give Holloway about a 65.5% chance to win, with McGregor at 34.5%.

The pair actually met once before, in 2013, when McGregor took a unanimous decision in only his second UFC fight. Holloway has been the far busier fighter since, sitting at 27-9 for his career after briefly holding the symbolic BMF belt before losing it to Charles Oliveira this past March. If you’re planning a fight-night spread, this is a five-round main event worth clearing the calendar for regardless of how the market leans.

Corey Seager’s MVP Odds Have Quietly Cratered

Not every storyline needs a watch party. Prediction markets have all but buried Corey Seager’s American League MVP chances, pricing him below 1% to win the award. It’s not hard to see why once you look at the stat line: a .182 average with 10 homers and 25 RBI this season, well off his career .284 mark, with a back injury eating into his availability. The favorites in that race right now are Yordan Alvarez, Nick Kurtz and Bobby Witt Jr.

Here’s the fun twist for anyone with Rangers game nights on the calendar: Texas is actually in first place in the AL West at 43-42 and riding a five-game win streak, proving the team doesn’t need an MVP campaign from its star shortstop to keep winning close games worth tuning in for.

Austin Reaves Staying Put Means One Less Storyline to Track

The last market on the board asks whether Austin Reaves ends up with the Toronto Raptors next season, and bettors have essentially closed the book on it, pricing “No” at 99.85%. Reaves is finalizing a four-year, $185 million deal to remain with the Lakers alongside Luka Dončić, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Toronto’s real offseason buzz has centered on Kawhi Leonard trade talks instead, which is why this particular market never got much traction to begin with.

Setting Up Your Watch List

Between a five-year comeback fight, a fading award race, and a contract situation that’s already resolved, these three storylines offer a good snapshot of how prediction markets separate hype from hard numbers. Holloway’s activity is outweighing McGregor’s name value on the current line, Seager’s real production has erased any MVP nostalgia bets, and a signed deal ended the Reaves speculation before it started.
