3 NHL Best-of-the-Board Props to Back on November 3

McDavid to stack points, Matthews to light up Utah, and Scheifele to fire away: three fun NHL props worth backing on Tuesday’s slate.

Tuesday night’s NHL board is a buffet, and we are here to fill the plate with the good stuff. Three games, three very different bets: a superstar who keeps finding the scoresheet, a sniper facing a goalie-starved defense, and a veteran center who just needs a couple of looks on net. It’s the best of the board, mixed, and none of it requires a degree in advanced analytics.

These three picks came out of a slate full of numbers that point the same direction: recent form, matchup and workload. Check the lines at your own book before you place anything, because prices move all day.

Connor McDavid 2+ Points Is a Fair Price for the Best Player Alive

McDavid and the Oilers (11-2-2) head to Newark to face the Devils at 7:30 p.m. ET, and the number 97 is humming. He has 9 goals and 30 assists for 39 points through 15 games, which works out to 2.6 points a night. Over his last five games he has 8 points, including 7 assists and a goal. Needing two points sounds like a lot until you remember how often he delivers them.

The matchup helps. New Jersey’s likely starter is Jake Allen, who is carrying an .887 save percentage and a 3.11 goals-against average over eight games. Connor Hellebuyck is the other option in net, so check the confirmed starter before puck drop, but neither version of this crease is scaring anybody. McDavid’s 2+ points prop was sitting at -105 at DraftKings when we checked, which is close to a coin flip on a player who has been scoring at a pace that makes a coin flip look generous.

The Devils are favored at home, and Edmonton is a modest underdog around +128 to +135. If the Oilers win or even just keep it close, McDavid is usually in the middle of it. If you want to see how the market treats prices like these, our how betting odds work guide breaks it down.

Auston Matthews Anytime Goal Scorer Against a Leaky Utah Defense

Matthews has 11 goals and 13 assists, tied for third in the league in goals, and he has found the net in three of his last four games. Toronto hosts Utah at 7 p.m. ET, and the Mammoth come in ranked 26th in goals against per game after allowing six in their last outing. When a goal scorer meets a defense that has been porous, you want the plus-money ticket.

Caesars had Matthews at +124 to score anytime. That is a good price for a player who shoots as often as he does and whose line is likely to see a lot of the ice. Toronto will also be without John Tavares and Marchenko, which only concentrates more of the offensive load on the top unit.

Plus money on one of the most dangerous shooters in the sport against a bottom-of-the-league defense is the kind of bet that feels almost too simple. Shop around, and if you want a new-account bonus to put toward it, the Caesars promo code page has the details.

Mark Scheifele Over 1.5 Shots on Goal Is the Quiet Value Play

Not every pick has to be a goal. Scheifele has 33 shots through 15 games, and the over has cashed in 6 of his last 10 at this line. Winnipeg visits Montreal at 7 p.m. ET and the Jets are in a rough patch, having dropped nine straight and sitting at 4-8-3. When a team trails, its top centers tend to throw pucks at the net, and Scheifele plays over 21 minutes a night.

DraftKings had the over at -165, which implies a hit rate of about 62 percent, while model estimates sit closer to 68 percent. That gap is where the value lives. Rookie goalie Jacob Fowler has been excellent for the Canadiens, posting a goals-against average under 2.00, but a hot goalie does not stop shots from being taken. Shots on goal are a function of ice time and possession, not who is in the other crease.

If the Jets chase the game, which seems likely against a Montreal team on a win streak and favored around -175, the shot volume only goes up. Our player prop search is handy for comparing this line across books.

Lock These In Before Puck Drop

Three games, three angles, and a nice mix of price. McDavid is the near-even-money star, Matthews is the plus-money sniper, and Scheifele is the steady shots play with a favorable gap between price and probability. Here is the card:

  • Connor McDavid 2+ points (-105 at DraftKings)
  • Auston Matthews anytime goal scorer (+124 at Caesars)
  • Mark Scheifele OVER 1.5 shots on goal (-165 at DraftKings)

Lines move, goalies get confirmed late, so check your book before you bet. Bet what you can afford to lose, and enjoy the hockey.
