The new and improved Minnesota Vikings will head east to take on the New York Giants as part of the Sunday card in NFL Week 16 action. The Vikings have won two in a row, and JJ McCarthy finally looks a lot more comfortable under center. The Giants dropped yet another game in disappointing fashion, as they were beaten by the Commanders, 29-21.
How will this one play out? We’ll dive into which team has the edge in each statistical category. Get our predictions and best player prop below. Best of luck, sports betting family.

Opening Odds for Minnesota vs New York
Oddsmakers are making the Vikings a small favorite in this game, as the opening line priced the team from Minnesota as a 1.5-point favorite. Some money has shown up for the Viks after their upset win over Dallas, so the price now sits at Minnesota -3 at most online sportsbooks. Be sure to shop around for the best price.
The books are expecting a lower-than-normal amount of scoring in this game. The opening total was 43.5, and that’s still where we sit at most shops as of Thursday morning. FanDuel currently has the best juice on the Under 43.5 at -105.
Will the Vikings Stay Hot?
Minnesota may only be 6-8, but they’ve looked like a completely different group the last couple of weeks. The offense is running more smoothly, mainly because McCarthy is being more patient and taking more checkdowns to his backs and tight ends. The Vikings are officially out of the playoff hunt, but they’ve been playing some inspired football.
Justin Jefferson is still the team’s best offensive weapon, even though he’s having a subpar year when compared to his usual standards. He’s really been hurt by the QB carousel, but most wideouts would kill for 66 receptions and 832 receiving yards.
Jefferson has only hauled in six receptions over his last three games, so I’d expect McCarthy to look his way more in this one. Brian Flores has done a pretty good job with the Vikings defense, as they rank 3rd in redzone efficiency and 5th in passing yards allowed.
Will the Giants Finally Get Another Win?
Jaxon Dart and Cam Skattebo gave this starving fanbase something to cheer about earlier this season. Unfortunately, Skattebo was lost to a gruesome ankle injury and Dart dealt with a concussion earlier this year. The future looks bright for those two, especially if the franchise can rebuild the O-line to better protect them.
Dart’s been a handful for opposing defenses, and I think he can cause the Vikings some issues with both his arm and his scrambling ability. Wan’Dale Robinson is having a nice season (882 rec yds / 4 TDs) and I could see Dart getting him involved early on in this one.
The main bugaboo for this Giants team has been their defense. They’ve ranked next to last in rushing yardage allowed for most of the season, so they may have to bring up a linebacker or a safety to try and slow down Vikings RBs Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones.
Best Bet: Giants +3 (-110)
Faithful readers and subscribers know that I love to buy low and sell high in the NFL. This Minnesota vs New York matchup checks both of those boxes to a T. Let’s get into the nitty-gritty details.
The Vikings are off a dominant win over the Cowboys in primetime, and they shut out the Commanders 31-zip before that. There’s never been a better time to sell a team at a high price. Minnesota is also in a tough back-to-back roadie spot, which is why my numbers only make them a 1.5-point favorite.
By contrast, the G-Men have lost 8 in a row, and their upset win over Philly seems like another lifetime ago. I don’t think this team is as bad as their record suggests. They found a way to upset two good teams at home (Eagles and Chargers), and I think they’ll show plenty of fight in this one.
Let’s play the Giants plus the field goal and sprinkle that moneyline a tad bit. Good luck, my friends, and thank you for subscribing to my service.
