The NFL playoffs are nearly upon us, and there are some great matchups taking place this weekend. Fans are anxious to see what their favorite teams can do in some banner contests, hoping desperately that they can advance to the Divisional Round.
We’re going to break down our favorite Underdog player props from each game, this time, emphasizing the matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens are 9.5-point favorites heading into the game, a projected blowout.
Can Russell Wilson and the rest of the Steelers' offense recapture some of the magic they found earlier in the regular season? Let’s take a look at our player prop picks and see if we can sweep the board!
We couldn’t talk about player props in this game and not mention Derrick Henry’s name. The addition of Henry to the Ravens’ offense is being talked about as the move of the offseason, as he’s unlocked a brand-new dimension to this team.
Lamar Jackson has been much freer to run around and throw the ball at will, and Henry tends to break off a lot of long runs. Henry had a 20+ yard rush in 13 games this season, including 44 and 31-yard rushes against the Steelers earlier this year. We’re expecting more of the same from the veteran back, and believe he’ll have at least one run of over 20 yards, cashing the over on this prop.
Because the Ravens are expected to win this game with ease, we’re pretty confident in this pick. Jackson has been an efficient thrower of the football all year, and the Ravens haven’t necessarily needed heroics from him to win games down the stretch.
The Ravens will likely rely on Jackson and Henry to dominate the run game in this one, leaving little room or need for him to throw the football. With that in mind, we’re taking the under on Jackson’s passing attempt line.
Taking the over on this line was a pretty easy ask for us. Russell Wilson and the Steelers are going to, more than likely, have to throw the ball a lot if they want to have a chance of winning this game.
Negative game scripts are a familiar feeling for Wilson and the Steelers, especially over the past several weeks, and he’s used to having to bring this team out of a hole. Considering their projected deficit, we’re taking the over on Wilson’s passing attempt total, as he could have closer to 40 attempts than 30 in a tough matchup.
