It is a Northeast battle as the New York Giants and Jaxson Dart take on the 10-2 AFC-leading New England Patriots. While Drake Maye should be able to attack this New York defense through the air, look at TreVeyon Henderson’s rushing prop as a must-bet for Monday Night Football.
Theo Johnson (NYG) OVER 3.5 Receptions
The second-year Giants tight end broke out for the G-Men in weeks 4-9, when Dart was quarterbacking the team for the first time this season. Johnson had 33 targets and only finished one game with fewer than 3 catches in that six-game stretch, including 5 touchdowns.
He was virtually the second-favorite target behind Robinson after Malik Nabers was benched with a season-ending injury in Week 4. Now, with the Giants due to play from behind most of the game against a Patriots defense that is amazing against the run but average through the air, I expect Theo Johnson to hit this mark easily.
TreVeyon Henderson (NE) OVER 60.5 Rush Yards
Facing a Giants defense that is allowing 157 yards per contest on the ground (worst in the NFL), rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson is in an extremely favorable slot in primetime Monday night.
While Rhamondre Stevenson might go in this contest, it is Henderson’s backfield in New England, and between a positive game script and a favorable matchup, he’s due for a few big carries in this one. Vrabel’s man out of the backfield will look to make it four straight games with 60+ rushing yards before the Pats head into the bye.
Best Bet: Patriots Alt Spread: -5.5
While we don’t want to bite on a 7.5 point spread just yet, the Patriots are rolling at 10-2 and face a 2-10 Giants team that will be playing aggressively with Jaxson Dart returning from injury.
New England heads into their bye next week, and with that looming, I expect Vrabel and the defense to leave it all on the field Monday night. After watching this run game explode with Henderson as the starter, give me yet another New England victory by more than two field goals.
