Week 17 of the NFL season is nearly over, but we still have a Monday Night Football battle that should wrap things up nicely. The Detroit Lions are taking on the San Francisco 49ers tonight, a matchup where the Lions are only favored by 3.5 points on the road.
Will this be as close of a game as the oddsmakers believe? We’ll find out tonight. As we wait to see how this game goes, let’s look at our favorite player props from the action, all of which are on various online sportsbooks!
With all due respect to Underdog, why in the world is this line so high? Jahmyr Gibbs has only had 19+ rushing attempts in three games this season, and we’re certainly not projecting him to do it in this game, seeing as this could be a shootout.
Gibbs is consistently used as a pass-catching back in the Lions offense, especially now that David Montgomery is out for the foreseeable future. Look for Gibbs to get limited work on the ground, logging less than 19 rushing attempts.
Jared Goff has been an absolute beast all season. While he might not win MVP, many analysts and fans believe he should be in the conversation, as he’s helped the Lions’ offense thrive and perform as one of the best units in the league.
As for tonight’s matchup, we’re very confident in Goff’s ability to throw for 251+, as we believe it’s going to be something of a shootout. Goff has hit this number nine times this season, and is on a roll lately, hitting it in five of his last six outings.
Look for Goff to have his hands all over this matchup from the jump, hopefully making for sweat-free cash on this over.
Brock Purdy’s passing attempts go hand in hand with our projection of a shootout. Because we think Goff is going to have a massive game, it’ll leave Purdy and the 49ers at a massive deficit, forcing the third-year QB to throw the ball a lot more than he might want.
He’s only attempted 34+ passes in four games this year, which might make some people wary, but all of his high-octane performances in this metric have come in back-and-forth games. With that in mind, we’ll take the over in this spot, hoping Purdy continues to sling the rock when the team is behind.
