Indianapolis Colts vs Minnesota Vikings

The Colts are 4-4 on the season and have won 4 of their last 6. After defeating the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans, they lost to the Houston Texans last week. After leading 10-3 in the 1st quarter, they fell behind by 7 at the break and found themselves down 10 mid-way through the 3rd quarter.

After cutting the lead to 3 points on a Jonathan Taylor rushing touchdown, the Colts were unable to mount a late comeback as Anthony Richardson was sacked and fumbled at mid-field with 1 second remaining. During the loss, Richardson subbed himself out of the game, leading to many questioning his conditioning and heart. Over the last few days, the Colts decided to bench Richardson for this game and will start the veteran Joe Flacco.

After a 5-0 start to the season, the Minnesota Vikings went into their bye week feeling great. However, things went south over their next 2 games. They lost 31-29 to the Detroit Lions and then last week 30-20 to the Rams. They were held to just 64 yards on the ground in the loss to the Rams. Matthew Stafford carved up this Minnesota defense for almost 280 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The Vikings were able to convert just twice on 7 3rd down attempts. With the defense giving up 30+ points in each of their recent losses, the Vikings need to get their defense back to holding teams under 16ppg like they were doing during their 5-game winning streak.

Best Bet: Indianapolis Colts +5.5

This line is awfully fishy. The Colts are now going back to Flacco who had some good moments when Richarson was shelfed with an injury.

We think the Vikings offense will continue to put up points, but their defense is going to have trouble stopping the run game of this Colts team.

If the Colts can establish the run here, Flacco has the ability to pick apart a secondary that begins creeping up to the line to help with run support.
