Monday Night Football kicks off the 2026 season with about as marquee a matchup as the schedule makers could have drawn up: the Denver Broncos traveling to Arrowhead Stadium to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET, and between a fully healthy Mahomes, a Kelce-Chiefs offense looking to get rolling, and a brand-new Broncos weapon making his debut in enemy territory, this game is stacked with prop betting angles.
We combed through the board and picked out the three props we like most heading into Monday night — a mix of passing and receiving bets that all have real edges once you dig into the matchup context. Here’s the best of the board for Broncos-Chiefs.
Mahomes Faces a Real Test, But the Weapons Are All There
Patrick Mahomes (KC QB #15) enters Monday fully cleared from the knee injury that limited him late last season — he was a full participant in practice all week with no game designation, which is about as clean a bill of health as you’ll see for a Week 1 tentpole game. The line has bounced around depending on the book, sitting anywhere from 223.5 up to 231.5 passing yards, with most of the market settling closer to 226.5 at odds in the -111 to -113 range.
What makes this appealing isn’t just health — it’s the supporting cast. Mahomes has his full arsenal available: Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Travis Kelce, and Kareem Hunt all healthy and ready to roll in Week 1. That’s as deep a group of pass-catching options as Kansas City has had in years. The complication is Denver’s defense, which projects as a top-10 unit against the pass and gives Mahomes a legitimately tougher test than a typical Week 1 tune-up. Volume is the name of the game here — if the Chiefs need to throw to keep pace or build a lead, Mahomes has more than enough weapons to clear the number even against a stingy Broncos secondary.
Kelce’s Line Looks Beatable Even in a Down Defensive Matchup
Travis Kelce (KC TE #87) is priced with a receiving yards line hovering in the 40.5-to-43.5 range depending on the sportsbook, with the over generally available around -115. On the surface, that number reflects some real defensive concern — Denver’s defense has been stingy against tight ends and ranks in the bottom third of the league in yards allowed to the position, so books are clearly building in some regression risk for Kelce against this specific look.
But dig into the usage numbers and the picture gets more favorable. Kelce remains Mahomes’ security blanket, commanding roughly 17% of the team’s target share and racking up 14 red-zone touches a year ago — that’s not a role in decline, that’s a player still fully entrenched as Kansas City’s chain-mover and short-to-intermediate safety valve. Since 2023, Kelce has cleared his closing receiving-yards line in almost exactly half of his games, and a sub-43-yard number for a player who commands that much volume is a number defenses have to work to actually hold him under. Against a defense that will be geared up to stop the perimeter speed of Rice and Worthy, Kelce’s underneath role could end up getting more volume than the line suggests.
Waddle’s Broncos Debut Lines Up Perfectly Against a Rookie Corner
Jaylen Waddle (DEN WR #17) makes his Broncos debut on the league’s biggest Week 1 stage after being acquired from Miami this offseason, and the matchup could not have set up better for a big night. Denver’s newest speedster projects to see plenty of run against a Kansas City secondary that’s breaking in sixth overall pick Mansoor Delane as its likely starting outside corner. That’s about as advantageous a landing spot as a receiver debut can get — a rookie corner making his first career NFL start, tasked with matching up against a five-year veteran with legitimate burst and route-running polish.
The receiving yards line sits in the 55.5-to-60 range across books, with BetMGM’s over available at -115. Given Waddle’s track record in Miami — a player who’s posted five straight quality NFL seasons and consistently produced against man coverage — and the fact that this is precisely the kind of speed-versus-inexperience matchup that tends to go the veteran’s way early in a rookie’s career, that number looks very gettable. Add in the extra motivation of a player debuting with a new team in a nationally televised spotlight, and Waddle checks every box for a strong first impression in Denver colors.
The Best Bets for Broncos-Chiefs on Monday Night
This is a props slate loaded with storylines — a healthy franchise quarterback, a future Hall of Fame tight end whose role hasn’t changed even if the matchup looks tough, and a newly acquired receiver stepping into a golden opportunity against a rookie corner. Here’s how we’re attacking the board for Monday’s opener at Arrowhead.
- Patrick Mahomes OVER 226.5 Passing Yards (around -111/-113)
- Travis Kelce OVER 42.5 Receiving Yards (around -115)
- Jaylen Waddle OVER 55.5 Receiving Yards (BetMGM -115)
Three different players, three different situations, and three props that all lean the same direction once you look past the raw line and into the usage and matchup data. If you’re building a same game parlay for Monday night, these are the three legs worth starting with.
