Bears at Chargers Take the Ugly Underdog on SNF

Can Tyson Bagent lead the Bears to a surprising victory 2 weeks in a row? Will the Chargers offense finally start playing up to their potential? These questions and more will be answered on Sunday Night Football in Week 8 as the Bears head west to take on the Chargers.

If you need help betting on this Bears at Chargers matchup, you've come to the right place. Check out our best bets for Sunday Night Football below! Good luck with your wagers!

Best Bet: Chicago Bears +8.5

The Bears picked up just their 2nd win last week when they hosted the Las Vegas Raiders. After losing their 1st 4 games, they have won 2 of their last 3. Justin Fields was injured and Tyson Bagent was named the starter after playing some limited snaps the week prior.

Not only was Fields out, but so was Roschon Johnson at running back. D’Onta Foreman stepped in and was fantastic. He took his 16 carries for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns. He added a 3rd score on a reception from Bagent which was his lone TD pass.

Bagent was efficient and played within himself, which led to a 30-13 victory. Fields is doubtful for this matchup with the Chargers so Bagent will need to step in once again. The defense will need to step up as well like they did against Vegas where they held them to just 39 yards on the ground and forced 3 turnovers.

The panic button is extremely close to being hit by the Chargers franchise. They currently sit a just 2-4 on the year and their 2 wins came over teams with a combined 6-8 record. They already had their bye week and came out with a loss to Dallas followed by a loss to KC last week.

Herbert has not been playing to the level he is expected to play. He threw 2 interceptions and completed less than 57% of his passes against KC. Granted, Austin Ekeler has missed 3 games but has been in the lineup for their last 2 losses.

The offense may be struggling a bit in comparison to what is expected of them, but the defense has been an even larger issue. They are 25th in the league, allowing almost 26ppg.

If the Chargers are going to get back to their winning ways, it is going to have to happen here against Chicago. A loss here and we could see some wholesale changes made to the team.

In the end, we believe the Chargers are going to get the win but are going to fail to cover. With the pressure being extremely high and the defense not playing well, the Bears and Bagent should be able to hang around enough to cover the number here.

Key Betting Trends for Chicago at Los Angeles

  • Chicago is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against LA Chargers.
  • LAC is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games
  • LAC is 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games played in week 8.

SNF Bonus Props to Consider

As usual, we want to add a few player props to spice things up for Sunday Night Football. We recommend playing these for half a unit each. Good luck!

Keenan Allen Anytime TD +115 (FanDuel)

  • Allen leads the Chargers with 4 touchdowns on the season.
  • The Bears have allowed the 2nd most touchdowns through the air this season with 14 touchdowns allowed to date.

Justin Herbert OVER 9.5 Rushing Yards -105 (BetMGM)

  • Herbert has run for an average of 13.3ypg on the season.
  • He has gone over 9.5 yards in 3 of his last 4 games.

Tyson Bagent INT -148 (BetRivers)

We are expecting the Bears to be trailing most of the game and in the hopes of coming back, Bagent will need to throw more than he is comfortable with doing.
