Happy Halloween to all who celebrate! The World Series might be over, but we have plenty of sports to watch tonight while we’re enjoying some candy, including an intriguing matchup between the Houston Texans and New York Jets on Monday Night Football. Some believe this could be a blowout by the Texans, while others anticipate Aaron Rodgers and Co. to turn things around, stopping their losing streak.
We’re not here to pick a side in the matchup, although, we are leaning toward the Texans. Our main goal is to go over our favorite player props from this game, all of which can be found on Underdog. We’ve been doing quite well on our Thursday Night Football props all season, so let’s get after it again tonight!
Is C.J. Stroud in a sophomore slump? The Texans are finding ways to win games, but it’s not necessarily because of Stroud, especially in his last three outings. He did look good against the Indianapolis Colts last week but struggled against the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots in the two prior contests.
He’s due for a big bounce back, and we think that a primetime matchup with the Texans is just what the doctor ordered. With that in mind, we love Stroud’s chances of throwing at least two touchdown passes in this one, perhaps before the end of the first half.
The Jets’ defense is dejected at the moment given their losing streak, and Stroud should take full advantage.
This is our favorite play of the day, by far. Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers are old friends going back to their time in Green Bay, and it feels like the veteran receiver was hand-picked by Rodgers to join the team.
Adams has been peppered with targets in his first two games with the Jets, logging nine in his first game, and six in his second. The six targets came against the Patriots’ stout pass defense, so don’t read too far into a lower number in that game.
Adams might not have a ton of yards against the Texans, but we think Rodgers is going to try and target him as much as possible, which is why we’re taking the over on this line.
The Texans’ receiving core is depleted, and Stroud is running out of options. Tank Dell could have a big night, but outside of that, the Texans don’t necessarily have an established WR2.
Robert Woods hasn’t been a major contributor this season, but since he’s a veteran with plenty of experience, look for Stroud to look his way early, resulting in at least two catches for him tonight.
