3 Best-of-the-Board Props to Back for Lions vs Panthers on Sunday Night Football

Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, and Tetairoa McMillan headline our favorite player props for Lions-Panthers Sunday Night Football, with a shootout total near 51 and a depleted Panthers secondary creating value across the board.

Sunday Night Football has a shootout written all over it this week, and if you’re not building a same-game parlay around the Lions-Panthers total, you’re leaving money on the table. Detroit (2-1) heads to Charlotte to face a Carolina team (1-2) that just lost its top two cornerbacks for the season, and the number reflects it: one of the highest totals of the entire NFL slate at 50.5-51, with the Lions favored by 3.5.

Both defenses have been a mess through the first month, and that combination of a battered Panthers secondary and a Lions offense that’s quietly been humming sets up a props board loaded with value. We dug through the matchup data and found three bets we like a lot heading into kickoff at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

Jameson Williams Is Built for This Exact Matchup

Carolina is playing Sunday night without both of its starting cornerbacks. Jaycee Horn (quad) and Mike Jackson (groin) were placed on injured reserve ahead of this game, and the Panthers are now turning to Akayleb Evans and rookie Will Lee III at the position. That’s about as juicy a matchup as a burner like Jameson Williams could ask for.

Williams has quietly been one of the more trend-friendly overs in the league, clearing his receiving total in 11 of his last 16 games. Through the 2025 season he posted 65 catches for 1,117 yards and 7 touchdowns across 17 games, and he’s the kind of field-stretching weapon who only needs one busted coverage to blow past a number like Receiving Yards Over 50.5 (-114). With Detroit ranking top-10 in passing offense and a Panthers defense that just lost its top two corners to IR, this is a get-well matchup for the Lions’ speed merchant.

We’re also sprinkling in Anytime Touchdown at +195, which our model puts at roughly a 25% probability to hit — plenty of value at that number against a secondary this banged up. Detroit’s offense ranks top-10 in passing and third in scoring, and Jared Goff has shown no hesitation letting Williams cook deep when the matchup calls for it. This is the deep-ball rebound game analysts have been circling for Williams all week.

Sam LaPorta’s Target Share Keeps Climbing

LaPorta has quietly turned into one of the more reliable pieces of Detroit’s passing attack through three games, hauling in 14 catches on 19 targets for 144 yards (a 48.0-yard-per-game average) with a touchdown. He’s not a boom-or-bust weapon — he’s a target machine, and that volume is exactly what makes Receiving Yards Over 47.5 appealing.

Last week against the Jets, LaPorta saw 4 targets and turned them into 3 catches for 44 yards, right in line with his season pace. Against a Panthers defense that’s allowing a league-high 299.3 passing yards per game, there’s no reason to expect Goff to suddenly stop looking his way. The volume is locked in, and in a game expected to turn into a track meet, a tight end catching four-plus targets a game has a real path to clearing 47.5 yards even without a monster play.

We also like a dip into LaPorta’s Anytime Touchdown market around +190. He’s already found paydirt once this season, and in a high-scoring environment with this much target share, red zone work becomes a real possibility.

Tetairoa McMillan Is Overdue for His First Score

Here’s where the board gets fun. McMillan has been Carolina’s clear No. 1 receiving option all season — and with Xavier Legette now on injured reserve (knee) and Jalen Coker banged up, McMillan is the unquestioned focal point of the Panthers’ passing attack on Sunday night. Through his first games this season, he’s racked up 12 receptions for 193 yards, a robust 16.08 yards-per-catch average that shows he’s doing damage down the field, not just picking up scraps underneath.

The one box McMillan hasn’t checked yet: he’s still without a touchdown this season. That’s exactly what makes the Anytime Touchdown price at +1050 so interesting. Our model has him at roughly a 32.6% probability to find the end zone Sunday night — a massive gap from what that longshot price implies, and in a game environment built for scoring with a total pushing 51, the value here is hard to ignore. With Detroit’s defense struggling to contain opposing passing games, McMillan playing the role of Carolina’s go-to target gives him every opportunity to finally get on the board.

This is the definition of a value longshot — a player getting peppered with targets on a team that desperately needs him to produce, at a price that doesn’t reflect how central he is to the gameplan.

Best Bets for Lions-Panthers Sunday Night

Add it all up and this Sunday Night Football matchup is shaping up to be one of the most bettable prop boards of the week. A shootout total near 51, a Panthers secondary that just lost both starting corners, and a Lions offense that’s clicking at the right time create a perfect storm for skill-position overs and longshot touchdown value. Here’s how we’re stacking our card:

  • Jameson Williams Receiving Yards OVER 50.5 (-114), plus Anytime TD (+195)
  • Sam LaPorta Receiving Yards OVER 47.5
  • Tetairoa McMillan Anytime TD (+1050)

If you’re building a same game parlay for Lions-Panthers, these three props all lean the same direction: expect points, expect volume, and expect Detroit’s banged-up matchup advantage to show up early and often. Check our NFL odds page for the latest lines before kickoff.
