Maryland’s six commercial casinos generated a combined $156.8 million in gaming revenue during June 2026, a 2.4% decline from the same month a year earlier, according to figures released by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency. State contributions from casino gaming totaled $67.9 million for the month, down 0.9% year over year, while the Education Trust Fund received $48.9 million, a 1.0% decrease.
The June results extend a softening trend for the state’s casino industry over the full fiscal year. For Fiscal Year 2026, running from July 2025 through June 2026, Maryland casinos generated $1.93 billion in gaming revenue, down 1.7% from the prior fiscal year, with total state contributions of $831 million, a 1.1% year-over-year decline.
Property-by-Property Breakdown
MGM National Harbor remained the state’s top performer at $66.6 million for June, down 0.9% from a year ago. Live! Casino & Hotel followed with $56.2 million, a steeper 4.7% decline, while Horseshoe Casino brought in $14.2 million, down just 0.4%. Hollywood Casino generated $6.8 million, down 5.8%, and Rocky Gap Casino posted $4.3 million, down 6.8% — the sharpest percentage decline among the six properties.
Ocean Downs Casino was the lone bright spot, growing revenue 4.3% year-over-year to $8.8 million, suggesting the Eastern Shore property may be picking up some local market share even as the broader statewide trend softens.
What’s Driving the Decline
The consistent year-over-year softness across most Maryland properties mirrors broader regional trends as competition intensifies from neighboring states’ casino and iGaming markets, along with continued growth in Maryland’s own legal sports betting sector, which may be pulling some discretionary gambling spend away from slot machines and table games. With one fiscal year now in the books showing an overall 1.7% decline, Maryland regulators and casino operators will be watching closely to see whether the slide stabilizes or continues into the new fiscal year that began July 1.
