Hard Rock Bet has officially launched its online casino and sportsbook in Ontario, marking Hard Rock Digital’s first move into a market outside the United States. The Wednesday announcement brings the operator’s full gaming platform to Canada’s largest regulated iGaming province, giving Ontario players access to more than 3,000 casino games alongside a complete sports betting product.
“Expanding into Ontario with Hard Rock Bet marks the first time we’ve brought our platform to an audience outside the US,” said Marlon Goldstein, Executive Managing Director and Chief Executive of Hard Rock Digital. The launch follows a lengthy regulatory process, with Hard Rock Digital Canada Ltd. first securing an internet gaming operator registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario back in May, before finalizing the required operator agreement with iGaming Ontario ahead of going live.
What Ontario Players Are Getting
The Ontario version of Hard Rock Bet mirrors much of what the operator already runs in the United States, where the brand holds sports betting licenses in ten states, including New Jersey, Michigan, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee, and online casino approval in New Jersey and Michigan. Ontario players now get that same combined casino-and-sportsbook experience in one app, available on iOS, Android and desktop.
On the casino side, the platform arrives loaded with slots, live dealer titles and table games from a mix of leading providers. Hard Rock Digital has also stood up an Ontario-based marketing team and local customer support to serve the new market, and the brand’s loyalty ecosystem, Legendary Reward Drops and Unity Points, carries over for new signups. New casino players can claim a launch welcome offer of bonus spins with a qualifying first deposit, plus a lossback offer covering a portion of net cash losses from their first 24 hours of slot play, subject to terms and conditions. The sportsbook side adds parlay wagering across a wide range of international sports, something that could appeal to bettors comparing options among the best Ontario sportsbook apps currently available.
Why Ontario, and Why Now
Ontario remains the only fully competitive iGaming market in Canada, with roughly 44 licensed operators now running dozens of gaming websites through iGaming Ontario, the provincial body that oversees private-sector online gambling in the region. That scale, and the fact that Ontario has no direct regulated equivalent anywhere else in Canada, has made it the natural entry point for U.S. operators looking to expand north of the border.
Hard Rock’s timing also lines up with its broader brand push into Canada. The company opened Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa last year, giving the brand an established physical presence and name recognition in Ontario well before the digital product went live. Layering an online sportsbook and casino on top of that brick-and-mortar footprint gives Hard Rock a cross-promotional angle that newer entrants to the province don’t have.
A Bigger Play for Hard Rock Digital
For Hard Rock Digital, Ontario is being framed internally as more than just another market added to the list. Company leadership specifically called out this launch as the brand’s first true international digital expansion, distinct from its ten-state U.S. sports betting footprint. That distinction matters for a company that has spent the past several years building out its domestic presence and clearly views international growth as the next phase of that strategy.
The regulatory path to launch also illustrates how methodical Ontario’s approval process can be for new entrants. Hard Rock Digital Canada Ltd. first cleared registration with the AGCO in mid-May, a one-year registration that runs through next May, before the company still had to finalize a separate operator agreement with iGaming Ontario, the body responsible for licensing and overseeing the province’s private-sector market. That two-step process, AGCO registration followed by an iGaming Ontario agreement, is standard for any operator entering the province and can take several months to complete, depending on how quickly each stage moves.
What It Means for the Ontario Market
The Ontario market itself has grown steadily crowded, and Hard Rock enters as one of the more recognizable global brands to join the province’s operator list. Established players already competing for market share include the major U.S. sportsbook brands as well as Canadian-rooted operators, and Ontario bettors now have one more name to weigh alongside existing options, including some of the sportsbook promo codes already circulating in the province.
Whether the platform can carve out meaningful market share against established players will depend heavily on how the welcome offer and loyalty program land with Ontario bettors in the coming months, along with how quickly the operator can localize its marketing and promotional cadence for the province. Hard Rock’s existing casino resort presence in Ottawa gives it a built-in brand advantage that most digital-only entrants don’t have when trying to win over a new market. For now, the launch gives Ontario bettors one more full-service option combining sportsbook and casino products under a single, established brand, and positions Hard Rock Digital to use the province as a template for future international expansion beyond North America.
