Delaware’s three commercial casinos combined for $37.5 million in gaming revenue in June, a 21% decline compared to the same month last year, according to figures released by the Delaware Lottery. The drop was broad-based, with every property in the state posting double-digit percentage declines for the month.
Video lottery terminals continued to drive the bulk of Delaware’s casino revenue, generating $33.6 million in June, down 20.8% year-over-year. Table games brought in $4 million, a steeper 23.3% decline, suggesting the softness extended across both slot-style and live table offerings rather than being isolated to one segment of the gaming floor.
How the Three Casinos Compared
Delaware Park held onto its position as the state’s top revenue generator despite the downturn, pulling in $16.7 million for the month, down 16.7% from a year ago. Its VLT revenue fell 16% to $14.4 million, while table games slipped 20.6% to $2.2 million. Of the three properties, Delaware Park posted the smallest percentage decline, cushioning some of the statewide impact.
Bally’s Dover saw the sharpest drop among the trio, with revenue falling 26.2% to $11.5 million. VLT revenue at the property declined 25.8% to $10.6 million, and table games dropped 30.4% to $942,058 — the steepest table games decline of any Delaware casino in June.
Harrington Casino generated the least revenue of the three at $9.4 million, down 21.6% year-over-year. VLTs there fell 21.7% to $8.6 million, while table games decreased 21% to $798,325, landing roughly in line with the statewide average decline.
What the Numbers Signal
A uniform decline across all three casinos and both major revenue categories points to broader market pressures rather than an issue specific to one operator or one type of game. Delaware’s commercial casino sector has long operated as a smaller, mature market compared to neighboring states, and swings of this size in a single month can meaningfully affect the state’s gaming tax collections, which help fund horse racing purses and other state programs tied to casino revenue.
Bettors weighing where to spend time and money this summer still have plenty of options beyond the casino floor. Whether June’s decline proves to be a temporary dip or the start of a longer trend will likely become clearer as Delaware Lottery releases July figures in the coming weeks. For now, the data confirms a difficult month across the board for the state’s three-casino market.
