Connecticut collected more than $31 million in revenue from the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Mohegan Tribe’s gaming operations in July, according to data released this week by the state’s Department of Consumer Protection. The figures cover slot machines, online sportsbooks, and online casinos at Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun, which both tribes report to the state on a monthly basis.
The July numbers showed month-to-month revenue increases for both tribes across all three categories tracked by the state. That growth reflects a healthy summer for Connecticut’s gaming market, even as the two operators posted diverging year-over-year trends.
Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Tell Different Stories
The Mohegan Tribe reported year-over-year revenue growth across slots, online sportsbooks, and online casino gaming in July. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, which operates Foxwoods, saw a year-over-year decrease in every category except online casino gaming, according to the DCP data.
Slot revenue at Foxwoods totaled $32.9 million for the month, resulting in a state contribution of nearly $8.3 million. Connecticut’s revenue-sharing agreements with both tribes entitle the state to a percentage of slot win in exchange for exclusive gaming rights within the state, a structure that has funneled hundreds of millions of dollars into state coffers since the compacts were first signed decades ago.

The split performance between the two operators underscores how competitive Connecticut’s tribal gaming and online betting market has become since the state legalized online sports wagering and iCasino play.
