The NBA Play-In Tournament continues on Wednesday as the Golden State Warriors (37-45) take on the Los Angeles Clippers (42-40) in the Intuit Dome.
Golden State limped into the playoffs, dropping seven of their last eight games. The Warriors – who were locked into the 10th seed for weeks – only picked up a win over Sacramento during that two-week period.
Los Angeles has been a team of streaks since the NBA All-Star Break. The Clippers had five winning and losing streaks of at least three games during that spell, keeping the franchise from securing the eighth seed over Portland.
This game is a rematch of the final regular season outing, a game Los Angeles won 115-110. Will the Clips win this play-in game to face off against Phoenix on Friday? We’ll cover that and provide bettors with our top three player props for this NBA contest.
Los Angeles Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard UNDER 29.5 Points
Kawhi Leonard continues to impress in his 14th NBA season. The two-time Finals MVP finished the regular season by scoring 27.9 points, grabbing 6.4 rebounds, and dishing out 3.6 assists. His career-best scoring total was the league’s sixth best over this season.
Still, scoring 30 points is a lot to ask. The forward did so only five times since the start of March. And in three matchups against the Warriors – all losses for the Clippers – Leonard never topped the 29-point plateau. Expect him to finish under that scoring threshold again on Wednesday.
Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry OVER 3.5 3-Point Field Goals
At 38 years old, this could be the last time future Hall of Famer Steph Curry sniffs the playoffs. The roster surrounding him needs work, and the legendary guard failed to play 70 games for the fifth time since their five-year NBA Finals streak.
That’s not discounting how good of a player he is – and can be – on any given night. Since returning from injury on April 5th, Curry has connected on 41.7 percent of his three-point shots. And he’s made at least four in three of those games. Take the legendary athlete to have a strong night against the Clippers, covering his trifecta prop.
Los Angeles Clippers’ Darius Garland UNDER 29.5 Pts + Reb + Ast
The Los Angeles-Cleveland trade that landed Darius Garland in the Western Conference may be one of the most underrated moves of the year. Garland is a decade younger than James Harden, and he’s a two-time NBA All-Star entering his prime.
Garland showed glimpses of greatness in March with a 41-point outburst sandwiched around three games with double-digit assists. Down the stretch, his scoring faded. The guard finished his five-game stretch in April with 16.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists. Bettors should use that as a guide, hinting that Garland will finish below his combination prop line.
Best Bet: Golden State (+5.5)
Since Golden State went to their fifth consecutive NBA Finals in 2019, the Warriors have been anything but golden. Yes, the franchise won its seventh title in 2022, but Golden State has also missed three playoff brackets during that time, too.
The Clippers have advanced to the playoffs three consecutive years. A win on Wednesday will get them one step closer to another first-round postseason berth. Expect the home squad to secure a one-possession-or-less victory over the Warriors to advance to Friday’s game.
