NBA Wednesday Predictions Guide: 3 Player Props for October 22

NBA opening week rolls on with plenty of teams in action all night. We turn our attention to Utah, where Brice Sensabaugh is a name to keep your eye on when looking at early-season scoring props.

In San Antonio, Stephon Castle should be a key contributor in this game against Dallas, but could struggle to find scoring opportunities against that elite Dallas defensive front.

F Brice Sensabaugh (UTA) OVER 11.5 Points

There are a handful of players that are due for a breakout season on the offensive end, and Ohio State product Brice Sensabaugh is up next. The 6’6 wing shot 46% from the field, 42% from beyond the arc, and 89% from the charity stripe in his second season with the Jazz, scoring 10.9 PPG in 20.2 MPG.

He’s a certified bucket getter at all three levels, and with the Jazz without John Collins and Ace Bailey, most likely slowly getting rotated into the lineup, Sansabaugh should have more usage this year.

This past season, he scored 12.8 PPG on 22.5 MPG in March and 17.2 PPG on 32.4 MPG in April. He’s going to be a leading scorer for this team this season, and Will Hardy will insert him into the lineup and keep him there once this team gets down to the Clippers in the second half, especially.

G Jordan Poole (NOP) OVER 2.5 Three-Pointers

Jordan Poole is the key creator for this Pelicans team. Poole, the former NBA Champion with Golden State, averaged 20.5 PPG last season with Washington, on 3.5 threes made per game. I’m expecting a big showing in his New Orleans debut against the Grizzlies away from home.

Memphis is without Vince Williams, Scotty Pippen Jr., and Ty Jerome in this one and should struggle to defend a fast-paced Pelicans offense. JP had six and eight 3PT attempts in his two preseason matchups in just 21 and 25 minutes of game play.

G Stephon Castle (SAS) UNDER 16.5 Points

Steph Castle is an incredible talent who will win San Antonio some games this year due to his elite athleticism and ability to defend multiple positions. With that being said, the Spurs will look to Dylan Harper, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and Julian Champagnie for the backcourt scoring alongside Castle.

Against a tall and lanky Dallas defense, I believe someone like Castle, who doesn’t have an elite outside shot, could struggle to find scoring opportunities tonight in a battle between the two top picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Castle scored 14.7 PPG last year but shot just 43% from the field and 28.5% from beyond the arc. He still has some growing pains coming this season, and my projection is just a tad under this mark in a low-scoring primetime battle.
