Sacramento vs Denver is shaping up to be the game of the night in the Western Conference. A Sacramento team that has won 10 of 12 with Doug Christie as their new Head Coach will take on a Denver squad that has won 7 of their last 8, finally finding that offensive rhythm that was lacking earlier in the season.
With the Kings underdogs by nearly 10 points, is this game truly as lopsided as it seems? De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk should shine in this marquee matchup out West this Thursday night.
Thursday, February 6 at 10:10 PM | Spread | Money | Total |
Sacramento Kings | -1.5 (-102) | -112 | O 231 (-109) |
Portland Trail Blazers | +1.5 (-118) | -102 | U 230.5 (-115) |
The Sacramento Kings have completely changed the trajectory of their season since giving the coaching keys to Doug Christie. 10-2 in the Christie era, it has been the balanced scoring and advanced defensive effort that has rejuvenated this squad that once seemed bound to miss the postseason in the tough Western Conference.
Sacramento lost their last game to Denver in December by just one point, and before that, had gone 3-1 against the Nuggets over their last four. The duo of Fox and Monk seems to be too much for Jamal Murray and company to handle and tonight, the +8.5 spread is too high of a mark - especially with Denver struggling to defend opposing backcourts all season long (most PPG allowed to SG and 3rd most APG to PG).
With Denver allowing over 10 APG to the point guard position, and the Sacramento Kings moving the ball around the perimeter with pace, I’m looking at De’Aaron Fox to string together a great game tonight.
Fox has gone for 16/10/8/7 assists against the Nuggets over their last four meetings, absolutely smashing the 6-assist mark with ease. In what is expected to stay as a tightly contested matchup, Jamal Murray and Christian Braun will remain committed to stopping Fox in the paint which will allow plenty of kick-out opportunities for one of the best playmaking point guards in the league.

Malik Monk | Over 18.5 Points |
Malik Monk has sporadically gone nuclear on Denver since joining the Kings in 2022. The Sacramento sharpshooter has scored 33, 26, 23, and 25 points against the Nuggets in four of his seven games where he’s played 20+ minutes.
In a month where he’s averaging 23 PPG on 18 attempts per contest, this confidence should continue into Denver. Not only do they allow the most PPG to the shooting guard position, but the 3rd most 3-pointers made.
