Happy Thursday to all! Another day means another opportunity to watch the NBA, and a chance to head on over to Underdog to check out their player props from the action. We went two for three on our picks last night, nailing the under on Kristaps Porzingis’ and De’Aaron Fox's point totals, while having a bit of a misstep with Trae Young’s assists.
There are always opportunities to improve, and we’re hoping to put a sweep together from tonight’s smaller slate of five games. Let’s get into our top picks!
We don’t typically take three-pointer props, but we had to take Jimmy Butler’s line tonight against the Orlando Magic. Butler has only made one three-pointer since joining the Golden State Warriors, attempting just 11 threes in seven games.
He’s not much of an outside shooter for obvious reasons, letting Steph Curry and his other teammates handle their business from beyond the arc. For now, we’re fading Butler’s three-point total until further notice, which is why we’re taking the under tonight, especially against a tough matchup like the Magic.
The Milwaukee Bucks are taking on the Denver Nuggets tonight, a game that’s as close to a playoff matchup as you can get at the end of February. The Nuggets have Nikola Jokic, and of course, the Bucks have Giannis Antetokounmpo, making for a fun battle between two of the league’s best players.
We expect Giannis to have a fantastic game against the Nuggets, punishing them down low and challenging Jokic on both ends of the floor. Considering he’s had 29+ points in five straight games against the Nuggets, we’re taking the over on his point total, believing history will repeat itself for the Greek Freak.
What has happened to Luka Doncic? He’s only scored 20+ points once in his first five games with the Los Angeles Lakers, something that he did regularly with the Dallas Mavericks. He does have to share the floor with more firepower now, including LeBron James, but it still seems odd that he can’t get his in the scoring column.
Tonight’s matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves is strong on paper given their lackluster defense, but we’re fading his point total given his lack of success in this area on the Lakers. We’re taking his under in this spot as long as he continues this trend.
