NBA Cup play continues with the Hawks traveling to MSG to play the Knicks while the Warriors look to move up the western conference standings as they host the red-hot Ime Udoka-led Rockets.
Bogdanovic is on our watch list tonight with Jalen Johnson questionable for action. Bogdan got hot for Atlanta last week, dropping 35 points over two games on 7/14 from beyond the arc.
With Trae Young’s drive-and-kicks, I’m expecting at least 7 opportunities from deep for the Hawks wing. He’s averaging 3.0 3PM in NBA Cup play over two outings, while also torching New York for 3.0 3PM last season.
The Hawks big man has had an outstanding season while coming off the bench. Okongwu will be in an outstanding spot against the Knicks starters who will be playing their 8th and 9th minute of the half while Onyeka is fresh.
Although he didn’t have a great game against New York to start the season, this game should be different. Over his last five games, Okongwu has gone over four of five times while playing around 25 MPG.
He is an integral piece of the Hawks and better yet, he’s an NBA Cup machine, averaging 12.5 PPG and 8 boards over Atlanta’s four games of group play.
Although Podziemski is coming off the bench for Steve Kerr, he has still played around 27 MPG over his last five games, hitting this PRA mark in four of those five outings.
Coming off the bench, he’ll provide an easy spark on both ends of the floor as an elite rebounding guard. With Houston allowing 54 boards per game this season, Brandin Podziemski’s 5 RPG and 3.4 APG should carry his PRA total tonight.
Curry and the Warriors come into this NBA Cup Quarterfinal game 14-9 and 2-0 against the Houston Rockets this season. Steph Curry didn’t play in either of these victories, but with the Warriors’ star healthy, we are expecting a higher scoring battle out west.
Curry is coming off a 30 point game against Minnesota and with Ime Udoka on the other sideline, we are expecting plenty of traps and blitzes from Udoka’s lengthy wing defenders.
Therefore, Curry’s assist numbers are a prop to look at. He’s averaged 6.6 APG so far this season, so this prop against a solid defense in Houston should be a hit.
