Day three of the NBA season, Tuesday treated us well with the Celtics winning the first quarter, but we have to keep the ball rolling. A four-game slate to feast on tonight while watching Thursday Night Football on your other TV.
We have the top two MVP favorites tipping off their season tonight. Here are three bets to look at for Thursday’s games.
Player | Prop | Price |
---|---|---|
Luka Doncic | Over 44.5 Points/Rebounds/Assists | |
Luka Doncic | Under 45.5 Points/Rebounds/Assists |
This line is gigantic, but if we take a look back at his season stats from last year, 34 points per game, nine rebounds, and just below nine assists. His averages go over the line from last season.
This is also the healthiest the Slovenian will be in the entire season. I think Luka will come out firing to start the year and go for his first MVP.
The Spurs had a solid defense last season, you have to see Victor Wembanyama in the paint and get scared, but in the 2023-24 season, the Spurs finished 21st overall in defensive rating. The 25-year-old has hit this line in 3/6 starts against San Antonio and also recorded over 50 PRA in his last two season openers.
Player | Prop | Price |
---|---|---|
Klay Thompson | Over 2.5 Threes | |
Klay Thompson | Under 2.5 Threes |
Sticking with the Mavericks, I hate taking this prop, but I think Klay Thompson is at the end of the road. Last season, we saw the Splash Brother struggle with his jump shot throughout the season.
Shooting under 40% from beyond the arc and the lowest points per game average since 2014. Father time is catching up to Klay, on a new team it's going to take time for him to find his role in Dallas.
In the preseason, Thompson shot 6/18 from the floor, not making more than three three-pointers in the three games he played. Three is the lucky number tonight, don't expect him to go over this line.
Wednesday, December 25 at 5:00 PM | Spread | Money | Total |
Philadelphia 76ers | +9 (-110) | +320 | O 228 (-110) |
Boston Celtics | -9 (-110) | -410 | U 228 (-110) |
The Celtics came just short of breaking the single-game NBA record for most three-pointers Tuesday in a BLOWOUT victory 132-109 against my New York Knicks. Jayson Tatum looks like an MVP candidate after one game.
The defending champs are coming out with a vengeance to defend their championship and tonight they go up against one of the worst teams in the league, the Washington Wizards. The Wizards finished the preseason 2-3, but in their three losses, they were defeated by an average of 29 points. This team isn’t good, they are in full rebuild mode.
The Wizards have also failed to cover the spread in six of their last seven home openers against Eastern Conference teams. We should be seeing Boston clearing out their bench by the end of this one. Take Celtics -13.5
