Happy Wednesday to all! If you’ve been waiting for the NBA to return since the All-Star Break, we have great news for you. There is NBA action tonight, albeit just one game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Charlotte Hornets.
This is a makeup matchup from earlier in the season, and both teams are rested and motivated to put a big performance together as the lone game of the evening. We’re excited to dive in and discuss our favorite Underdog player props from this one-game slate, hoping to sweep the board after several days without any NBA to bet on. Let’s get into it!
The Luka Doncic trade made waves around the NBA, a deal that made even the most prolific insiders do a double-take. People didn’t even know Luka was available, much less that he was heading to the Lakers to help LeBron James bring this team to the next level.
His first two games with the Lakers have left something to be desired, as he’s only scored a total of 31 points in these contests. However, he only played 23 and 24 minutes in those games, and after plenty of rest, we believe Doncic is in for a massive game on the scoring end of things.
The Lakers traded for him to be the elite superstar that he’s demonstrated to this point in his career, and this is a favorable matchup for him to score in bunches. Luka has put up 30+ points in six of his last eight games against the Hornets, a team that he’s had a lot of success against, which is why we’re hammering the over in this spot.
February has been a great month for Austin Reaves, who is averaging 25.3 points per game over his last six contests. He’s had 20+ points in five of those games, which would make most people think that he’s trending towards hitting the over on his point total tonight.
However, we’re fading Reaves, if for no other reason than our belief in what Doncic is going to do. The Lakers needed a secondary scorer after LeBron, and Reaves certainly provided that before Doncic was on the team before he had a chance to go nuclear.
Now that Doncic has his feet under him and has gotten plenty of rest, Reaves is due for fewer shot attempts and overall opportunities, which is why we’re betting on him to have less than 22 points tonight.
The Lakers’ trade for Luka Doncic was certainly one for the books, but Mark Williams was supposed to be on the team too, another deal they were able to pull off. So they thought, anyhow.
Williams failed his physical with the Lakers, and the entire trade got rescinded, bringing him back to the Hornets. This game serves as an opportunity for Williams to stick it to the Lakers, showing them what they’re missing out on.
He should put up some profound numbers in the rebounding and points categories, easily achieving a double-double and putting some extra cash in your pocket!
