Best NBA Player Props for Tuesday, January 2

Happy Tuesday, and happy New Year to you and your family! 2023 was a fantastic year, and we’re confident that 2024 will be even better in many aspects. The NBA decided to bless fans with a fantastic slate tonight to kick off the New Year, even though only six games are taking place!

With that in mind, we’ve studied the board and come up with our three favorite player props from the action, all of which are found on Underdog. Let’s get into it!

Tyrese Maxey UNDER 25.5 Points

Tyrese Maxey is one of the best young players in the NBA. He has become a force to be reckoned with on this Philadelphia 76ers roster, averaging 26.1 points per game on the season with the ceiling to score a lot more than that.

However, for whatever reason, Maxey hasn’t historically played his best ball against the Chicago Bulls. In his 10 career games against the Bulls that he has played more than 29 minutes, Maxey has only scored 26+ points on two occasions. He’s only scored north of 20 points in four total games against this team, meaning they have found ways to shut him down.

While Maxey is a great player, we’re projecting the Bulls to quiet him again tonight, resulting in him going under 25.5 points.

Jrue Holiday OVER 12.5 Points

We absolutely LOVE this spot for Jrue Holiday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Holiday has played 30 career games against the Thunder, averaging 16.2 points per game against them.

He has been a fantastic addition to the Boston Celtics’ roster this season, getting it done on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. This is a must-win game for the Celtics as they try to extend their lead on the rest of the Eastern Conference.

We’re expecting Holiday to score north of 15 points in this must-see matchup, so we’re taking the over in this spot.

Jeremy Sochan OVER 11.5 Points

The San Antonio Spurs have one of the most fun young teams in the NBA. They might not have translated that into many wins on the year, but if this core sticks together, they could make some noise in the future.

Jeremy Sochan is one of their brightest young players, who has become valuable to this core. He averages just under 11 points per game on the season, which might make one lean towards taking the under in this contest.

However, he has popped off for several big games this year, and the Memphis Grizzlies are a favorable opponent for him. Look for Sochan to have one of his ceiling games tonight, resulting in the over hitting for his point total!
