The NBA season is off and running. There are a few teams that have positively surprised us this year (Cleveland Cavaliers, we’re looking at you), while other teams like the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, and Minnesota Timberwolves, have underwhelmed expectations.
However, there’s a lot of season left to be played, and as evidenced by the Milwaukee Bucks’ miraculous turnaround after a horrendous start, anything can happen in this league.
With that in mind, we’re excited to watch the action go down tonight, despite there only being six games on the slate. We found several player props on Underdog tonight, so let’s take a look at some of our favorites!
LeBron James seemingly loves to face off against the Miami Heat, his old team. He’s played them 45 times throughout his career, averaging nearly 28 points per game in those matchups.
After a hot start to the year, the Lakers have struggled a bit lately, but tonight’s game could be a great opportunity for LeBron and his teammates to get back on the same page. Look for LeBron to put on a legacy outing tonight, achieving well over 22 points to smash the over in this spot.
We were a bit surprised to see Bobby Portis’ rebounds line at 6.5, especially since he hasn’t had 7+ in a game since November 23rd. Portis is a valuable member of the Milwaukee Bucks, certainly, but with limited minutes, it’s hard to trust him to rack up a lot of any stat, especially rebounds.
Until he proves otherwise, we’re staying away from Portis’ rebound total, taking the under in this matchup with the Atlanta Hawks, especially since he’ll be facing Clint Capela for most of the night.
The Boston Celtics match up well with the Detroit Pistons, and if the Pistons aren’t careful, they could get out to a massive deficit from the jump. We project the Celtics to win by 20+ points in this game, which means limited playing time from stars like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Tatum in particular should have fewer chances to achieve rebounds and assists, which is why we’re taking the under on this combined line. He tends to hit this line in close matchups, but with a blowout on the horizon, we’re betting on lower production in these two categories.
