After a nice 2-1 evening, we're back on track with our baseball selections. Shohei Ohtani proved to the world once again that he's pretty good at this whole baseball thing, and much to everyone's surprise, the Oakland A's cashed for us over the New York Yankees.
Our only blemish on the card was the Padres, who were blown out by the Pirates. Yu Darvish being scratched due to an illness was a bit unlucky for him and us both. Oh well, we'll take 2-1 any day.
Here are 3 MLB Best Bets for Wednesday, June 28. Good luck with your plays. Let's do this!
This is a great spot to bet against the Cubbies, as they're still jet-lagged from that trip to London a few days ago. It'll take a while for their body clocks to get back to normal. Until then, we'll look to fade them like we're doing tonight.
To make matters worse for the North Siders, Patrick Wisdom hurt his wrist and is on the IL for at least 10 days. That hurts the Cubs lineup tremendously, as he leads the team in homers with 14. We also trust Aaron Nola a little bit more than Drew Smyly.
Both are savvy veterans, but Nola has a K-rate of 24.3%, while Smyly is only 19.9%. Nola also walks fewer batters than Smyly. Philly also has 4 hitters with a XSLG rate of 44% or higher (Schwarber, Harper, Castellanos, Realmuto). Chicago only has 1 (Swanson). Lay the small number!
The Halos have cashed for us 2 nights in a row and we think they'll finish off the sweep tonight at home. We've talked quite a bit about how bad this White Sox lineup is. The Pale Hose are only hitting .230 and scoring 3.89 runs per game against righties.
On the other hand, the Angels hit the ball pretty well against righties (.253 BA, 5.17 runs per game). Sure, Lucas Giolito is a steady starter for Chicago, but Jaime Barria hasn't been too bad for LAA. Barria's hard-hit rate is 13% lower than Giolito and his barrel rate is almost 3% lower.
We also prefer LAA's bullpen over the South Siders'. We know that sweeps are hard to come by in MLB, but this price is way too cheap to pass up. Go Angels!
YEP! We're doing it again! We're running it back with the Oakland Triple A's! As crazy as it may sound, Oakland has the starting pitching edge for the 2nd night in a row. JP Sears isn't elite, but his hard-hit rate is 4% lower than Domingo German and his walk rate is 3% lower.
Speaking of German, he's been a human gas can of late. Over his last 3 starts, German's ERA is 12.71 and his WHIP is 2.38. He gave up 8 runs to the lowly Seattle offense during his last start.
Sears is in great form. His ERA is 3.79 and his WHIP is a tiny 0.79 over his last 3 starts. Give us the A's in the First 5 innings for the 2nd night in a row! Holy Freaking Cow!
