2025 Belmont Stakes Odds, Predictions, and 2 Best Bets

Horse racing fans, get ready, because it’s time for the third leg of the 2025 Triple Crown at Belmont Stakes this weekend. Sovereignty took down the Kentucky Derby, and Journalism finished as the leader at the Preakness Stakes.

While there isn’t an opportunity for a Triple Crown winner this year, both of the above horses are competing this weekend with a chance to win two of the three major races in 2025. We’re excited to see how it’ll all unfold this weekend, and what’s a horse race without some action on the table?

With that in mind, we’ve put together our top two favorite bets from the weekend, highlighting who we believe is the most likely to win the race, along with a horse with longshot odds, but could still make a run at the title. Let’s get into it!

Top Favorite: Sovereignty (2-1)

We recognize that these are pretty shallow odds for an event like a horse race, but Sovereignty has been nothing if not consistent. This horse has won three of the last five races it has appeared in, including the aforementioned Kentucky Derby. No stage is too bright for this horse and their jockey, Junior Alvarado.

Alvarado is regarded as one of the best jockeys in the sport, logging 2,144 wins throughout his career. If there’s anyone you can be confident in, it’s certainly him. He hasn’t won at Belmont before, so this would be a great year to pick up his first win at this historic race!

Top Longshot: Crudo (15-1)

Many people have Crudo as their dark horse (yes, pun intended) as the winner of this weekend’s race, and for good reason. Crudo might be the least experienced racer in the field but given that this horse has already won two contests this year, anything can happen, even against more seasoned horses and jockeys.

Crudo is a longshot for a reason, but certainly worth a sprinkle if you’re placing a bet on a winner that could yield a lot of return for a small investment. Crudo’s jockey is the impressive John R. Velazquez, another highly decorated jockey.

He’s won over 6,700 times throughout his career, and unlike Alvarado, he has won at Belmont twice in the past. This only solidifies our underdog/longshot pick for Crudo in this one, so watch out for this horse on race day!
