JT Poston is matched with Kitayama here, who is coming off a 41st place finish at the Open Championship. On the year, Kitayama is ranked 152nd on Tour in putting, which is going to be an issue this weekend, where putting and making birdies is a must.
He will also be making his 3M Open debut as he has never played in year prior. Poston has proven he can score here and compete. In 2021 he finished 28th, followed that up with an 11th place finish in 2022, and then was runner-up last year.
Could he better himself again and win this event? Possibly, but we will take the matchup instead.
Cam Davis, the Aussie who won the Rocket Mortgage Classic just a few weeks ago, is coming off a 26th place finish at the Scottish Open. Here at the 3M, he has finished no worse than 28th over the last 4 years at the event.
He was 10th last year, which was his best finish thus far. Keegan, fresh off his Ryder Cup captain appointment, shot 7 over thru Friday at the Open and missed the cut.
Here at the 3M, he has not participated since 2021 where he finished 39th after finishing 46th the year prior. Davis knows this track well and will outlast Keegan this weekend.
Lee Hodges loves this event. In 2022, he finished 16th in his 1st start here. What did he do the following year? He just went out and won the thing outright.
He’s got 5 Top 25 finishes this season and is primed to compete late here again on Sunday. Rodgers has been consistent at the 3M Open. He has finished in the 30s each of the 3 years he has competed at the event.
We like Hodges as defending champ to put together another nice tournament here.
Finau is the odds-on favorite to win this event. He finished 7th last year after winning the event the year prior in 2022. He also had a 3rd place finish in 2020.
Tony is familiar and comfortable on this track and despite his disastrous Friday round last week at the Open, he had finished inside the Top 20 in his previous 5 events in a row. We like him to bounce back here at a course that is very much unlike what he dealt with at Royal Troon.
McNealy has missed his last 2 cuts this season. That said, he has 6 Top 25 finishes and is 15th on Tour in total strokes gained. He was able to grab a 16th place finish here back in 2021 and has the ability to go low on similar tracks to this one.
We love the value we are getting here on him over 2 to 1. We don’t advise breaking the bank on this play but certainly worth a small wager. Give us all that plus money on the Mav man!
