Conners is 4th on Tour in strokes gained on his approaches to the green this season and 43rd in total strokes gained. He is coming off a solid 11th place finish at the Zurich Classic and has made all 12 cuts this season.
Hoge has made 12 of his 14 cuts this season and is coming of a 41st place finish at the CJ Cup that followed a missed cut at the Zurich. Conners has had success here at the Wells Fargo in the past.
He finished 21st in 2022 and followed that up with an 8th place finish last year. Hoge’s best finish here was 65th in 2019. He has not competed in this event since 2021 and he failed to make the weekend. We expect Conners to continue his strong play and look for Hoge to struggle once again here.
Poston has found some success at this event. He finished 26th in 2021 and 9th in 2022. However, he failed to make the cut in 2018, 2019, and then again last year.
He has not competed since the RBC Heritage so there could be some dusting off needed by him. Denny McCarthy is in the same boat in terms of when he last competed. He finished 28th at the RBC.
Here at the Wells Fargo, Denny has done well over the past 2 seasons. He nabbed a 25th place finish in 2022 and then was good enough for a Top 10 finish last year.
Grillo has been one of the best putters on Tour this season. In fact, he ranks 20th overall in strokes gained from putting. His driving accuracy has been solid as well and he ranks 41st in that department.
He has a good track record at the Wells Fargo Championship as well. He has finished no worse than 23rd and has a Top 15 and Top 10 to go along with it over the last 3 years. We have faith in Grillo finding his way into the Top 40 once again this season.
Homa has already finished inside the Top 20 in half of his starts on the season. He is not in the top of any statistical categories but he is far from the bottom.
However, he has been consistently solid throughout all aspects to this point. He has won this event twice over the last 4 seasons and added an 8th place finish last season.
He thrives here and should be able to navigate his way to yet another Top 20 finish this weekend.
Thomas has finished inside the Top 20 in 5 of his 9 starts this season. He is 7th in strokes gained on approaches and 32nd in total strokes gained.
He’s competed in the Wells Fargo Championship three times over the last 5 years and has been competitive each year. However, only once was he able to get inside the Top 20 and falling short twice with finishes of 26th and 21st.
