The PGA Tour continues this week at the Detroit Country Club with the sixth annual Rocket Mortgage Classic from June 27-30. This 18-hole course is 7,370 yards long, ranking among the top 20 longest courses on this year’s schedule.
Last season’s champion Rickie Fowler returns this week to defend his crown. Fowler won the event in 2023 in a three-person playoff as all three men finished -24 over the four-day event. Can Fowler repeat as champion of the event and claim his first victory in 2024? We’ll cover that in our top three PGA Player Prop Bets at this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre has enjoyed a successful string of tournaments over the past two months. MacIntyre’s run started at the Myrtle Beach Classic, finishing T33 with a -13 four-day total.
After another top-10 finish the following week, MacIntyre won the RBC Canadian Open to begin June. Since then, the golfer has missed the cut at the U.S. Open and had a T16 finish at the Travelers Championship last week.
The 27-year-old lefty will be competing for the first time at the Detroit Country Club but expecting him to continue his impressive run is not out of the question. Bettors should take this player prop bet for the Scottish golfer.
American Taylor Moore had made the cut through every tournament he participated in this year until the Charles Schwab Challenge before Memorial Day weekend. Since then, he’s missed two more cuts and finished T68 at the Travelers Championship last week.
Selecting a golfer who has run into such a buzzsaw to finish in the top 10 is usually a fool’s gold bet or a long-shot wager. Yet the 30-year-old backs up this prediction with his recent performances at the Detroit County Club.
In the past two years, Moore has finished T4 and T6 as the righty clearly has a good read on this course. Expect that read to continue and for Moore to snap out of his funk this week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
After winning last year’s event, American golfer Rickie Fowler has the 14th-best odds of finishing in the top 20 for this year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic. At first glance, that’s easy to understand as Fowler has see-sawed between middle-of-the-pack finishes and missing the cut for the past two months.
Golfers like 16th-ranked South Korean Tom Kim and 23rd-ranked American Cameron Young have much better odds despite not placing last year. Certainly, both players have had much better recent success than Fowler and are interesting bets to make at this week’s event.
But betting against a champion to fall below a top-20 finish is hard to swallow. Expect Folwer to at least make the cut and follow up his T20 finish at the Travelers Championship with another strong showing at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
