The 2024 Genesis Invitational will tee off on Thursday, February 15 at Riviera Country Club. While Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are listed as the two favorites to win the tournament, most folks will be solely focused on the return of Tiger Woods.
Woods hasn't played in an official PGA Tour event since the 2023 Masters. The Big Cat isn't part of our betting card this week, but we did find 3 matchups and 2 placement prop bets for your wagering pleasure. Enjoy the golf, everyone!
Finau is 4-4 in making cuts this season. He has also finished inside the Top 25 twice and Top 10 once. He also has a good history here at the Genesis. He finished 20th last season and has made the cut in 5 straight starts. He also has 3 Top 20 finishes including 1 runner-up in 2021.
Theegala has been rolling this season. He has scored 3 top 25s in 5 events and has missed just 1 cut. He did finish 6th last season after finishing 48th in his debut at the event. We're expecting Theegala to come back down to earth this week at Riviera. Take Finau!
Homa has made the cut in all 5 starts over the last 5 years. Outside of his 37tg finish in 2019, he has accumulated 4 Top 10s and 3 Top 5 finishes. This arguably the best event for Homa on Tour.
Morikawa missed the cut at the Farmers a couple of weeks ago but did bounce back for a 14th finish last week. He also has had some recent success here at the Genesis with a 2nd place and 6th place finish over the last 2 years.
However, the consistency of Homa at this event is something we cannot look past. He should be in contention come Sunday.
Xander stumbled a bit the other week as he finished 54th at Pebble. He took off last week during the WM Open. In his 1st three events this season, he grabbed a Top 10 in all 3 along with a 3rd place finish at the AMEX. Here at the Genesis, Xander has 3 Top 15 finishes in his last 5 starts.
For Thomas, he has been red hot or ice cold here at the Genesis. He has missed the cut twice and also finished in Top 10 twice over his last 5 starts here. Play the X-Man!
Last year was a rough one for young Will Zalatoris. However, he has already shown that he can compete at the highest levels on Tour. The year prior, he finished inside the Top 40 in 18 of his 24 starts.
In his 3 starts here at the Genesis, he has finished nothing worse than 26th. He has a better chance of being in the Top 10 than he does of falling outside the Top 40 here.
Last season, Finau finished inside the Top 25 thirteen times out of his 24 starts. Through just 4 starts this season, he has finished inside the Top 25 in half of those starts.
Here at the Genesis, he has 3 Top 20 finishes over his last 5 years participating. We certainly see Big Tony being in one of the late groups come Sunday.
