2023 Scottish Open 9 Bets to Consider Making

Most of the PGA Tour's biggest starts are playing in the 2023 Scottish Open as a tune-up to the British Open. As you might expect, some of the bigger names like Scottie Scheffler (+650), Rory McIlroy (+1000), and Patrick Cantlay (+1400) are the heavy favorites to win outright this week.

Here are 9 Bets to consider making for this event! Also, check out our action on the 2023 Barbasol Championship. Good luck with all of your golf bets this week!

Tom Kim -110 OVER Lucas Herbert

Kim is coming off a disastrous outing at the RMC where he failed to make the cut. His 1 over par round on day one put him in a hole that he was not able to crawl out of.

Herbert did not participate in the RMC but did finish 15th at the Travelers after missing the cut at the US Open. Kim grabbed a Top 10 finish at the US Open. This tournament will be more like the US Open than the RMC or Travelers.

Kim finished 3rd last year in his only start at the Scottish Open while Herbert missed the cut. However, Herbert did have good finishes the 2 years prior with a 3rd and 4th finish. We expect Kim to rise to the occasion once again here.

Jordan Spieth -120 OVER Shane Lowry

Spieth has been inconsistent lately. He finished a solid 29th at the PGA Championship. He then went to the Charles Schwab and missed the cut.

He bounced back with a 5th place finish at the Memorial and then missed the cut at the US Open. He should bounce back here at the Scottish Open where he finished 10th last season.

Lowry has not participated here and has continued to struggle with the flat stick where he is ranked 141st on Tour.

Alex Smalley -130 OVER Alex Noren

Smalley fell just short at the John Deere where he was runner-up after shooting 19 under par. He has 4 straight made cuts along with 2 Top 25s and 1 Top 10.

Noren grabbed a Top 10 finish at the RMC but has missed 5 of the last 8 cuts. Smalley had success last season here when he finished 10th.

Noren was 20 spots behind, finishing 30th. We believe this year will be more of the same.

Thomas Detry -110 OVER Brian Harman

Detry has had recent success at the Scottish Open. He finished tied with Smalley in 10th last year and was runner-up the year previous.

He has made the cut in all 5 of his starts here as well. Brian Harman played the Scottish Open for the 1st time last season and failed to make the cut.

Harman has been playing better as of late, but we believe Detry makes another run here.

Top 40: Alexander Björk +130

Playing on the DP World Tour, Bjork has finished inside the Top 10 in 4 straight starts. He is playing at an extremely high level recently.

At the Scottish Open, he has made the cut in 5 straight starts at the event. In 3 of those 5, Bjork finished inside the Top 40. This should be another good outing for him as he continues to play strong golf.

Top 40: Connor Syme +400

Syme has been playing up and down while on the DP World Tour. In early June, he finished 10th at the Porsche European Open. He then missed the cut the following week.

After a week off, he picked up a 14th place finish at the BMW International Open. Most recently, he made the cut at the Betfred British Masters but finished a modest 68th.

He has made the cut in 4 straight starts here at the Scottish Open and 2 of those 4 were Top 40 finishes.

Top 40: Jamie Donaldson +500

In 2 of the last 3 starts at the Scottish Open, Donaldson finished inside the Top 10. Proving he has what it takes to make a run here.

The price of over 3 to 1 is too enticing to pass up here. On the DPWT, he has gone back-to-back events finishing inside the Top 40.

Top 20: Tommy Fleetwood +110

Fleetwood faltered at the Travelers Championship and has yet to play a Tour event since. However, prior to that, he had picked up a 5th place finish at the US Open and a runner-up at the RBC Canadian Open.

He has 3 starts here over the same number of years and has finished no worse than 26th. In 2020, he was runner-up and last season he finished in 4th.

Tommy is 7th on Tour in total strokes gained, as he has been consistent off the tee, on his approaches and while putting. We like him to make a run deep on Sunday.

Top 20: Tyrrell Hatton -110

Hatton has missed just 1 cut in his 15 starts this season. While that has come to be expected, it is still a strong showing of consistency. He, like Fleetwood, has been tremendous in terms of strokes gained.

He ranks slightly ahead of him in 4th in that statistical category and is Top 5 in putting. Last year was the 1st time Hatton had finished outside the Top 20 in 4 straight appearances at the Scottish Open.

Finishes of 18th, 13th, and 9th, preceded that last one. Hatton has shown no signs of slowing down as he heads into this event with Top 20 finishes in 6 of his last 7 starts on Tour.
