Halloween Saturday delivers a college football slate that fits a season where ten top-10 teams have lost in three weeks. Miami sits at No. 1 and still has to go to Chapel Hill. Ohio State carries a quarterback question into the Coliseum. Georgia and Florida meet in Atlanta with real playoff stakes. Here is what to put on the TV, what to bring to the watch party, and where the lines say the fun might be.
Georgia vs. Florida: The Cocktail Party Gets Real Stakes
The rivalry kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and this one is a true appetizer-and-a-game event. No. 3 Georgia is a 12.5-point favorite against No. 17 Florida, with the total sitting at 56.5 and moneylines around Georgia -470 and Florida +360 depending on the book. | Saturday, October 31 at 3:30 PM | Spread | Money | Total |
| Florida Gators | ![]() +12 (-110) | ![]() +350 | ![]() O 56.5 (-108) |
| Georgia Bulldogs | ![]() -12 (-113) | ![]() -440 | ![]() U 56.5 (-112) |
The storyline writes itself. Georgia stewed through a bye week after a turnover-filled home loss to Auburn, and quarterback Gunner Stockton will be looking to bounce back from a rare off day. Florida arrives fresh off an upset win at Texas, with first-year head coach Jon Sumrall still sorting out whether Aaron Philo or Tramell Jones Jr. gets the start under center. The Gators have scored 39.6 points a game but allow 28.3, which is why the total is so high and the spread is so big.
Kirby Smart has owned this series lately, winning eight of the last nine meetings. The College Football Playoff picture adds drama: CBS Sports’ CFP Forecaster gives Georgia 94.5 percent playoff odds with a win and 72.7 percent with a loss, while Florida’s odds jump from 9.5 percent to 29 percent with an upset. Rivalry games rarely go to form, but Georgia’s defense, which allows about 15.9 points a game, should control tempo. Lean Georgia, and if you want a safer angle, consider the Bulldogs in the first half.
Miami at North Carolina: The No. 1 Team Faces a Halloween Test
The nightcap everyone will be watching, or at least checking between trick-or-treaters, is top-ranked Miami at Kenan Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The Hurricanes are 7-0 and fresh off a 52-23 win over Pitt, and they are about 14-point favorites with a total in the 52.5 to 53.5 range. The moneyline sits near Miami -625 and North Carolina +455, so the real wager is on the number, not the winner.
North Carolina is 4-3 and has been feisty as an underdog, going 4-1 against the spread in that role this season under Bill Belichick. The Tar Heels’ defense will try to confuse Miami’s passing game and contain receiver Malachi Toney, and in a year when top-10 teams keep falling, nobody is writing off the upset. Prediction models still lean heavily Miami, with win probabilities in the 85 to 90 percent range, and Miami has covered five of seven this season.
Think of this one as a lean-on-the-favorite game with a trap door. Miami should win comfortably, but 14 points is a lot to lay on the road against a Belichick-coached team with nothing to lose. If you want to follow along on the futures board, the NCAAF champion odds will move with this result.
Ohio State at USC: Big Ten Drama Under the Coliseum Lights
Also at 7:30 p.m. ET, No. 2 Ohio State visits USC at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on NBC and Peacock. The Buckeyes are 6.5-point favorites with a total of 51.5 and moneylines in the -245 to -251 range. The twist is under center: Julian Sayin is out, and true freshman Luke Fahey is expected to make his first career start.
That makes Ohio State’s defense the headliner. It is allowing just 13.4 points a game, and it ranks among the best in the country against both the pass and the run. USC has a high-powered passing attack led by Jayden Maiava, who averages nearly 288 yards a game, but the Trojans coughed it up in a 24-7 loss at Wisconsin last week, and they have not covered as a home underdog under Lincoln Riley. On the other side, Jeremiah Smith remains the one Buckeye you can build a watch party around.
With a young quarterback, an elite defense and two offenses that struggle to run the ball, the under at 51.5 has plenty of fans, and the Buckeyes’ defense is the reason to lean Ohio State on the number.
Quick Hit: Texas Hosts Mississippi State
If you want a comfortable second screen, No. 11 Texas hosts Mississippi State at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN as a roughly 20.5-point favorite with a total near 50.5. Mississippi State is down its starting quarterback, and the Bulldogs have allowed 21 sacks this season, which gives the Longhorns’ defense a feast. Texas may not be explosive enough to cover a huge number, which is why the under is the more popular angle.
