Hard Rock Bet is Opening in Ontario

Hard Rock Digital Canada Ltd. has received an iGaming registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, formally beginning the process toward a live launch in Canada’s most active online gaming market. The registration, issued May 14 and valid through May 13, 2027, makes Hard Rock Bet a registered operator in Ontario — though the brand must still finalize a contract with iGaming Ontario before it can accept player accounts.

Ontario is the only Canadian province other than Alberta with a competitive, privately regulated iGaming market, and Hard Rock’s registration adds a major US-branded operator to a province that already hosts 44 licensed operators across 76 gaming websites. For Hard Rock, the Ontario entry represents the first time its digital gaming brand will operate in Canada, following the 2025 opening of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa on the physical side.

What Hard Rock Bet Already Offers in the US

Hard Rock Bet is currently live for sports betting in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia. In New Jersey and Michigan, it also holds online casino licenses, offering slot games, table games, and live dealer products alongside its sportsbook. The brand’s dual-product structure mirrors what Ontario players would expect, as the province requires operators to offer both sports betting and casino products through a single licensed platform.

The Ontario sportsbook market features established competition from DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, and bet365, along with Canadian-native brands including BetRivers and theScore Bet. Hard Rock will need to differentiate on product features, promotions, or brand loyalty to gain meaningful market share in an environment where most major US operators are already present. The brand’s loyalty program, which is tied to Hard Rock’s broader entertainment and hospitality ecosystem, may offer a natural differentiator for players who frequent Hard Rock properties.

The Broader Ontario Market

Ontario launched its regulated iGaming framework in April 2022, allowing private operators to obtain licenses and compete independently rather than through the province’s lottery corporation. The market has grown significantly since then, with operators reporting strong revenue figures and player volumes that rival some of the larger US states. Hard Rock’s arrival will further expand the licensed options available to Ontario players and reduce reliance on offshore platforms that operate without provincial oversight.

The brand has not yet announced a launch date or confirmed what its promotional structure in Ontario will look like. Players can review Hard Rock Bet’s US product via the best Ontario casino apps comparison as the brand prepares its Canadian rollout.
