As fun as it is to look back on a good run, we know this is a what have you done for me lately type of business. Today's card is kind of light, but we did find one side with some value. Check out our MLB best bet for the Reds at Padres on Monday, May 1 right here!

Cincinnati Reds vs San Diego Padres

Best Bet: Padres -1.5 (-110)

San Diego hasn't gotten off to the start they'd hoped for, as they're just 15-14 on the young season. The Padres' bats have been pretty quiet, which has been kind of a shock to anyone who follows MLB on a consistent basis. Eventually, though, guys like Juan Soto and Manny Machado are going to start heating up. It may have already happened, as the Pads' lineup scored 22 runs in just 2 games against the Giants over the weekend.

Cincinnati doesn't have a stacked roster, but they've been playing hard and grinding out a few wins. The Reds are 12-16 on the year, even though they're just 3-10 in road games. They'll send Luke Weaver to the mound tonight, and he's been awful so far, with a FIP of 7.50 and a hard-hit rate of 63.3%.

To make matters worse for Cincy, lots of San Diego hitters have feasted off of Weaver in their careers. Jake Cronenworth, Trent Grisham, Manny Machado, and Fernando Tatis Jr. have all homered off of Weaver, so it could be an early exit for him this evening.

Blake Snell hasn't started off so hot in 2023 for San Diego. The veteran lefty has struggled to hit his spots when he needs to and is issuing way too many walks. However, Snell has allowed 3 earned runs or less in 3 straight starts, so it looks like he's figuring things out.

To wrap things up, we're expecting San Diego's hitters to put up some crooked numbers against Weaver early and often in this game. Look for Soto, Tatis, or Machado to go deep and for this Padres offense to start firing on all cylinders. Let's lay the run and a half with San Diego.

Thanks for reading, and best of luck with all of your MLB action. Let's make it 6 wins in a row tonight!
