While our week on the links was a good one in the matchups, the same can’t be said about our props. Munoz and Conners both failed to finish in the Top 20 and Morikawa had no shot at the top 10.
However, our play on Keegan Bradley finishing in the Top 20 was a success as he went on to win the tournament outright. This weekend we have a Top 40 play to go with our handful of Top 20s and one Top 10 play. Let's make some money with the CJ Cup!
Woodland had a hiccup in 2021 when he finished 72nd here but has top 10 finishes in his other 3 starts at the CJ Cup. It may not be a bad idea to go small on a couple of darts on Woodland to finish Top 10 or Top 20. You could back that up with a larger play here on him finishing Top 40.
Top 20: Tyrell Hatton
Best Available Odds: +150 at FanDuel
We spoke about Hatton’s tremendous track record at the CJ Cup in our matchup article. He has yet to finish outside the top 25 in his 4 career starts at this event. His 25th-place finish last year was his worst but he'll surely bounce back into the Top 20 this year.
Top 20: Russell Henley
Best Available Odds: +250 at DraftKings
Henley finished 33rd in his 1st start at the CJ Cup in 2018 but came back in 2021 with a 3rd-place finish. Last year he was a modest 25th. He finished 2nd on Tour last year in strokes gained on his approach shots and that will benefit him here in South Carolina this week.
Top 20: Viktor Hovland
Best Available Odds: -105 at FanDuel
Hovland is one of the best young players on Tour and he proved that once again in his 1st start of the season. He did not have a round of 70 or more in his 4 rounds at the ZOZO and finished tied for 5th. His worst finish at the CJ Cup was 31st in 2020 and has since finished 12th and 18th over the last two years.
Viktor seems to always be in the top 50 in strokes gained categories on Tour and he's even getting inside the top 25 in a couple. His game is suited well for a top finish here at the CJ Cup.
Top 10: Justin Thomas
Best Available Odds: +150 at DraftKings
The man has won this event twice in the last 5 years. To get Thomas at plus money for the top 10 seems like a bargain so we feel comfortable taking a stab on him in this spot. JT will be making his season debut and we are hoping he starts off the year with a bang.
