Get ready to cheer on your favorite teams with even more excitement! Caesars Entertainment and Raynham Park are bringing the state its first dedicated Caesars Sportsbook retail location.
Sports fans in Massachusetts have cause for celebration today as Caesars Entertainment and Raynham Park join forces to bring the state's first dedicated Caesars Sportsbook retail location. Caesars Sportsbook at Raynham Park is set to open later this year.
The 30,000-square-foot facility will offer bettors a fully immersive sports betting experience, complete with two restaurants, bars, and private events space. Construction of the Caesars Sportsbook at Raynham Park is due to finish mid-year, with a grand opening planned for spring.
Raynham stopped live greyhound racing over a decade ago. Since then, it has operated as a simulcast parlor where patrons can bet on simulcasted horse and dog races.
"Raynham Park is in an excellent location in southeast Massachusetts and will be one of just a few retail sports betting locations in the Commonwealth. It's great to partner with the Carney family, which has a long history in the community and an exciting vision for a tremendous sports entertainment and pari-mutuel simulcasting facility. We look forward to showcasing the Caesars' commitment to world-class experiences through this partnership", said Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital.
The Carney family has been synonymous with Raynham Park for over 70 years. Well known throughout the greyhound racing industry, this Massachusetts track had long been one of America's most popular and successful venues.
Caesars Entertainment, formerly Eldorado Resorts based in Nevada, changed its name after acquiring Caesars in 2020. They later bought UK-based William Hill sports-betting company and rebranded its US arm as Caesars Sportsbook.
Caesars Digital and Caesars Entertainment are both under the Caesars umbrella but have distinct roles within the organization. Caesars Entertainment is the overarching entity renowned worldwide for its expertise in the casino-entertainment arena.
On the other hand, Caesars Digital is a specialized subsidiary that provides cutting-edge digital offerings like online sports betting and gaming. It's a driving force behind the company's digital strategy, delivering innovative solutions to the organization and its clients.
Caesars Digital is thrilled to partner with the Carney family on a unique sportsbook entertainment and pari-mutuel simulcasting facility in southeast Massachusetts, making it one of only a few retail betting locations available throughout the Commonwealth!
President of Caesars Digital, Eric Hession, says, "We look forward to showcasing our commitment to providing exceptional experiences through this partnership."
The partnership came together after Chris Carney pitched the idea to Caesars Digital CDO Dan Shapiro at a horse racing event two months ago. Caesars is also entering the Massachusetts sports betting market by partnering with Wynn Resorts to offer online betting. However, this deal with Raynham Park is only for in-person betting, and the Carneys are still searching for a partner to offer online betting.
Shapiro said, "Caesars has casinos in many markets around the country but doesn't have any in Massachusetts or anywhere in New England. We believe having that retail presence in a market helps us. Not only do we generate revenues on the retail side, but we also believe it helps our online sports business in a number of ways."
Chris Carney plans to increase the number of employees at Raynham Park from 120 to 300 by adding a full-service restaurant in the new building. He believes his sportsbook operation will be unique because it will be a standalone business rather than part of a larger casino.
Carney sees the new sportsbook as a sports bar with high-end dining, saying, "You never go a season in Boston without someone making the playoffs. It's going to be a sports bar, with fine dining on steroids." He is eager to capture the strong following for Boston's sports teams: the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox.
