Jon Rahm had us awfully nervous on Thursday as he truly struggled and was behind all three of his opponents in our play on him. Luckily for us, he woke up and made his way back up the leaderboard quickly and got the job done to finish ahead of Noren, Hovland, and Straka.
Aaron Wise, on the other hand, made it smooth sailing on our top 30 ticket on him. Jordan Spieth did his job of getting inside the top 30. However, Justin Thomas stumbled down the stretch of the weekend and fell outside the top 30 costing us our parlay on the two.
This week, the season ends with the 2022 Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. The format is much different from any other event of the season. Everyone except the 26th-30th place player in the FedEx standings will start with at least 1 stroke under par. Here is the full layout:

Scottie Scheffler | -10 |
Patrick Cantlay | -8 |
Will Zalatoris (WD) | -7 |
Xander Schauffele | -6 |
Sam Burns | -5 |

Rahm, Stallings, Thomas, Young, Fitzpatrick | -3 |
Homa, Matsuyama, Spieth, Niemann, Hovland | -2 |
Morikawa, Horschel, Hoge, Conners, Harman | -1 |

The TOUR Championship’s current format began in 2019. Rory McIlroy won by 4 strokes that year. In 2020, Dustin Johnson finished at -21 and won by 3 strokes.
Last year, Patrick Cantlay also finished with -21 and had only a 1-stroke margin of victory. With the margin of victory continually decreasing, we think it is worth a shot at a playoff for this year’s TOUR Championship.
Justin Thomas is 1st on the tour in par 4 scoring average. He opened with a birdie on the 1st hole of the BMW which was a par 4. The 1st hole at East Lake is also a par 4.
At TPC Southwind the previous week, JT also birdied the 1st hole at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. We expect Thomas to get off to a hot start this week as well and birdie the 1st. At 4.5 to 1, we can not pass up this value.
On this play, we get Sam Burns, who is sitting in 4th place to start the tournament with Zalatoris withdrawing. He is 7th on tour in birdie average and 33rd in driving distance. His strokes gained putting average is .539 and places him in 11th on tour.
Burns is having one of the strongest seasons of his career and a top 5 finish in the TOUR Championship would be the icing on the cake. At just over 2 to 1, we'll make a play on Burnsy finishing strong this weekend.
