Opening Day treated our player props well, as they ended up going 2-1. Both pitchers that we bet on got the job done. Alek Manoah easily stayed under his strikeouts number, and Julio Urias cashed our Over by the hook by striking out 6 Diamondbacks.
There are only 5 games on tonight's slate, but we've still found plenty of edges to be had. Let's keep it rolling with 3 PrizePicks MLB Props for Friday, March 31. Best of luck!
Peterson enjoyed a very productive 2022 campaign by going 7-5 with a respectable ERA of 3.83. He also averaged a little more than one strikeout per inning, which means he has some decent stuff. Nevertheless, we're fading Peterson in the strikeout category this evening against Miami.
Peterson notched 19 starts last season but only worked 6 innings or more on 4 occasions. The Marlins have added a few nice pieces to their lineup, so we aren't expecting them to strike out nearly as much in 2023. Newcomers like Luis Arraez have the potential to give Peterson fits, and that's what we're banking on tonight.
We also have some market support behind us on this play, which is something we always like to see. Caesars Sportsbook is juicing the Under at -143. We'll ride with the Under and look for the Marlins to get into the Mets bullpen pretty quickly.
Julio Urias got the job done for us against Arizona last night, so we'll go right back with Dustin May tonight. The Diamondbacks will be much better in 2023, but we're still projecting a ton of strikeouts from their lineup. Arizona struck out on 22.3% of their plate appearances in 2022.
May didn't have a great season in 2022, but he was recovering from Tommy John surgery and didn't return until late in the year. The 6-6 right-hander was recently named the Dodgers' top bounce-back candidate of 2023. The 25-year-old definitely has the type of quality stuff that's needed in the front end of a rotation.
BetMGM is pricing this Over at -150, which is the type of heavy market support that we look for when assembling a PrizePicks parlay. Look for May to last at least 6 innings and to end up with at least 6 strikeouts in the process.
The total bases market can be tricky, as we found out with Myles Straw last night. However, we're thinking that La Stella should be able to have some success tonight against Hunter Gaddis of the Guardians. The 6-6 righty only pitched in 2 games last season, and neither one of them went well.
Gaddis was 0-2 with a hefty ERA of 18.41 and a WHIP of 2.45. The 24-year-old has potential, but it could be several starts before he feels comfortable at the major league level.
La Stellas is a 34-year-old veteran that's bounced around quite a bit over his 9 seasons in The Show. He didn't play in many games for San Fran last season, but we're expecting some decent production out of him in Seattle this season. Take the Over!
