After a 2 for 3 night last night, we turn to tonight’s slate for an opportunity to sweep the board! If it hadn’t been for a Luis Severino masterclass, we likely would have swept yesterday. Oh well!
There are 15 games taking place tonight, and several of them have playoff implications tied to them. We’re going to take a look at our favorite player props from these contests, which can all be found on PrizePicks. Let’s go for a clean sweep!
Michael Lorenzen has turned out to be a fantastic pick-up for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was acquired via mid-season trade from the Detroit Tigers and hasn’t looked back. Lorenzen threw a no-hitter on August 9th and has been responsible for two wins in his first four starts with his new club.
Tonight, Lorenzen and the Phillies take on the struggling Los Angeles Angels. After a brief time when the Angels seemed like playoff contenders, all of their dreams have faded away.
The Phillies have a lot to play for, and we’re expecting Lorenzen to shove tonight, recording at least six strikeouts. In his last outing against the Angels, Lorenzen struck out seven batters, and we’re anticipating similar results tonight.
The Kansas City Royals haven’t done much winning this year. In fact, they haven’t inspired much confidence throughout their roster, with very minimal bright spots.
There’s a reason this is a bottom-two team in baseball. However, there have been a few players that have outshined the rest of the team, including Cole Ragans. Ragans has struck out at least eight batters in four of his past five outings, including two games with 11 strikeouts.
He faces off against a struggling Pittsburgh Pirates lineup tonight, hoping to add significant numbers to his strikeout totals. Ragans is looking to put together a solid performance and should have no problems achieving at least six K’s.
Seth Lugo has put together a serviceable season on the mound. He holds a 5-6 record and an ERA of 3.7. While his season ERA might tell one story, Lugo has turned things around lately.
He’s only given up three or more runs in two of his last ten games, an indication that he’s keeping runs off the board.
Lugo will face off against the lowly St. Louis Cardinals tonight where he looks to continue this hot streak. We’re going to ride the hot hand tonight, taking the under on Lugo’s earned run total.
