Isn't it great to have the PGA Tour back on the calendar? Golf is one of our top sports, so we're stoked about it! Here are 3 best bets for the 2023 Sentry TOC.
The tournament tees off on Thursday, January 5, so be sure to get your wagers in before then. Some of the top names in the field will be Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Justin Thomas. Rahm is currently the heavy favorite at +650 over at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Horschel has been playing solid golf early this season. He is coming off back-to-back top-15 finishes. The Hero World Challenge saw him finish 13th while more recently, at the QBE Shootout, he finished 10th.
He is #1 on tour currently in strokes gained on approaches to the green. At the Sentry, Horschel has finished no worse than 25th over his last 4 starts.
Scott has only started at the Sentry once over recent years, and that was in 2021 when he finished 21st. He has yet to play this season, and as he enters his 23rd year as a pro, we expect the rust to have built up a bit during his long layoff.
Patrick Cantlay has finished 4th twice over the last 3 years at the Sentry and picked up a 13th and 15th finish along the way as well. In his last start, at the Shriners Children’s Open, Cantlay finished 2nd while shooting -21 over the course of the tournament.
Finau has played in the Sentry in back-to-back years. He finished 19th last year, following a 31st-place finish the year prior. Finau finished 7th in the last event he played in, at the Hero World Challenge.
However, Finau has been struggling around the greens through the shortened beginning of this season. We believe Cantlay’s superiority at the Sentry is the right golfer to back here.
Scottie Scheffler finished 13th here in 2021, while Xander has had better success with a win in 2019 and 2 other top-5 finishes. This should end up being the most competitive of all 3-Ball matchups this weekend, but we can not pass up on the plus-money value of Rahm here.
He has been the model of consistency here at the Sentry, which gives us confidence in his ability to outlast both Scottie and Xander. This nice price is simply too good to pass up.
